Hello everyone

If you could please bear with me one moment 🙂

Im a 21 years old male from Scotland i have just returned from my first visit from Rome and it has changed my life. For one year i have had thoughts of vocation into the diocese priesthood.
But one week in Rome has changed everything i now feel as if i have been called to the preisthood in a Religious life. Seeing all the priests and nuns in Rome so happy and you can tell in there faces some of them in there teens that they have already found the meaning of there lifes. They are fully fufilled this is what brought it home to me.
I have nothing they have everything they have found life in giving there own lifes up.

I am a 100% devoted to Mary so this is a big consideration when considering what society to join. I also feel heavyly called to working in different coutries so missionary work seems right to me and preaching devotion to Mary.

True devotion to Mary has changed my life and if one as not yet read it then i pray you do so.

I go on a 2 year working holiday visa to New Zealand in November and when i heard about the society of Mary the Marist Fathers i thought it was God calling which it might be.
the funny thing is 2 weeks ago i couldnt imagine wearing a habit now i feel as if i need one to join a society. And the Marist dont have one but the one thing that is great is that when training for the priesthood they send you to Brazil or Mexico for 2 years that sounds very attractive to me because my 2 passions in life are God and travelling.

A couple of questions

Any comments good or bad about the Marist fathers ?

Any other religious lifes that you can think of that consist of True Marian devotion , missionary work and possibly a habit ?

What Religious orders are based and serve in Rome as i have a great sense of working in Rome or any other italian city ?

God Bless

Seek not after a vocation for happiness, for you will be disappointed. Seek, rather, after Jesus, and you will be happy.

Hey Celtic,

Thanks be to God that he is speaking so forcefully to you lately! I apologize that I don’t know much about the Marist fathers, but there are certainly plenty of communities here in Italy. Besides mine which you can check out a little bit at

http://www.apostlesofil.org/male_branch.htm

There is also the Priestly Fraternity of St. Charles Borromeo, connected with the Communion and Liberation movement.

http://www.fraternityofsaintcharles.org/

Neither community has a habit other than typical priest garb, but both love Mary and do missionary work, and both have their houses of formation in Rome.

Also, you may want to **begin daily mental prayer with the Scriptures **if you aren’t already in the habit and **find a knowledgeable priest **who can aid you in your discernment.

Have a great day and God bless!

Hello

Thanks for the replys guys.

After futher looking in to the marist fathers i have started to look elsewhere. I am in the process of looking into

oblates of the virgin mary

the marians of the immaculate conception

Could anyone give me opinions on these two orders?

I have one question the more i read about the OVM the more i like but there seminar is based in the USA. Being from the UK does it allow me to look at orders outside Europe?

Thankyou brother Scott for them 2 sugestions I will be considering both.

God bless
