First of all, I would like to ask for prayers as I struggle with scrupulosity that is affecting my relationship with God.
Second of all, I would like to ask for advice on how to deal with scrupulosity.

Thank you very much and have a wonderful new year.

The best advice anyone can give you here is to speak to your confessor and do as he says. Tell him you think this may be a problem and let him advise you.

The best advice I can give you is when your scruples flare up, do not come here to CAF or to any internet forum. Go to your Priest or someone offline who knows you and is best able to help you. We here cannot and should not take the place of proper offline help.

I hope you feel better soon.

Resist the temptation to ask questions about sin on the forum. This feeds the compulsions and the need for reassurance, and furthermore stunts the formation of conscience. You also have a variety of people on here with a variety of experiences and levels of formation in theology, ranging from priests who’ve been to seminary, to people with only Google to help them. Thus, you’ll get a range of answers that could lead to further confusion and anxiety.

You need professional help from a spiritual director/priest and a therapist. Scruples is in the OCD family.

Grow in your faith and confidence in the grace of God by reading Paul’s epistle to the Romans in the New Testament. God keeps us, loves us, strengthens, and comforts us. Trust in His goodness to YOU. I will pray for you. Peace.

I agree with the majority here. Please turn to the Church for assistance.

I offer up prayers for you!
