Not sure if it is the right forum to post, but I would like to share my opinion so far with my experience on the catholic church:
The more I seem to research about the church, the more I am coming to the conclusion that it indeed is the truth. It makes sense from a historical point of view, since it is the only church which you can trace back to the apostles (even non-christian historians admit this). As much as I love studying about other religions and demoniations of christianity, they all seem to stop at a certain period of time in history when you trace them back. Protestantism starts at roughly 15th century which means it did not exist before. Orthodox church can be traced as far back as 11th century when the schism of east and west took place. But the catholic church can be extended as far back as 33 AD when Lord Jesus Christ established it. It is also the only church which can be 100% reconciled with bible. For example, protestants (no offence) cannot possibly digest the fact that there are verses of the bible hinting to purgatory (something which they reject). Like, the verse about settling matters which your peers before the jailer throws you to the judge. This can only point out to purgatory. The bible (as I noticed in researching) wasn’t written by jesus, rather it is the church (combined with the councils) which decided which books of the credible and which aren’t. This is why it is impossible to be a true christian by only acknowledging the book without the traditions. Because if in the bible, it says that you have “to spread the word by mouth” which clearly indicate that in the first two century people did not have a single copy, rather they had to preserve the teaching combined with the tradition. Catholic church is the only one which is the most traditional of all the denominations. And what’s even more fascinating, is that the official revelations and teaching have not changed one single word for the past 2000 years, which is amazing. I love the very fact that, eventhough times change, the teachings of the church will never reconcile with the times. I agree, I do think teachings should be eternal, and the holy spirit has done a magnificent job on doing that. There is a reason why in the bible jesus says “Thou art Peter the rock, and upon this rock i will build my church”. He did NOT say “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock i will build the BIBLE”. So if you believe in the bible, you must believe in the church as well.
Also, not only does it historically make sense, but also scientifically. I have read some of the writing of emeritus Be. XVI and Bl. JPII. They both have said how science and faith must go hand in hand. JPII (and I compleletely agree with him) said that science without faith leads to materialism, and faith without science leads leads to superstition. So we can see how supportive of the natural law of the universe the catholic church has been. Likewise, the issue of abortion, euthanasia, and homosexuality are all in accordance with nature. It should be clear (even if a non-christian) that abortion is wrong because it essentially is removing a living piece of organ and essentially kills a living soul (which equates to murder). Likewise, with marriage and fertilisation. Every human being (who thinks at a logical level) knows that marriage must be between a man and a woman only. And we know of the wrong of homosexuality, because we can see the negative effect of it on both psychology and natural health of body. This practice of same-sex intercourse has brought various deffiencies and diseases after those practice, which show that the idea of man and man, or woman and woman is essentially a flawed practice undertaken in various parts of the world. So even a non-catholic will essentially come to the conclusion, which is the exactly the same as the RCC teaches. Therefore, there is nothing in the church that is illogical in terms of biology. Likewise, with physics. No pope has ever denied the big bang for example, or some form of evolution of species, which have been scientifically proven. Therefore, if one is really historical and scientific, the only real religion to join is that which has a healthy balance of both faith, reason, and science. And by far, The church is the best in explaining what the world’s moral life should look like.
i could go on writing more, but I will stop here.
