Don’t forget the ‘pay the jizyah with HUMILIATION’ bit. It was highly DISCRIMINATION and far more than what the Muslims paid.

The ‘only those who can afford’ bit is also suspect.
Yeah, some who couldn’t pay money paid in boys - having to surrender their sons to the Moslem authorities who took them away to be slaves - or, under the Turks, the elite soldiers of Islam - the Janissaries as a form of Devshirme

These are classic text book answers Muslims always give.
It’s a consistant way of thinking by all Moslems I’ve met on various fora.

Much of his refutation is in fact agreement with what I’ve said.

Nonetheless, I do think that the more radical Muslims are, in general, getting quite violent about things.
Hi

I think the present position of the radical Muslims is comparable with that of the Jews in the time of Jesus, they got hardened at heart.

Jesus was therefore sent by GodAllahYHWH to soften their hearts. Likewise GodAllahYHWH has now sent the PromisedMessiah 1835-1908 to cure them of this bloodshedding hardened at heart position. I pray that they accept him!

Thanks

As expediency allows.

But it’s a stetch of an analogy, because you don’t have to be dying to lie - you gave an example of lying in a marriage.
Example of lying to further the cause of Islam which Muslims continue to deny doing:

Islamic Academy Teaches Hate?“At issue are textbooks the USCIRF says contain ‘highly intolerant and discriminatory language, particularly against Jews, Christians and Shi’a Muslims.’ Its findings are based on a three-year study of Arabic-language textbooks, some of them from the Saudi Academy, by the Center for Religious Freedom in the District.

“The textbooks instructed students to ‘hate’ Jews, Christians, ‘polytheists’ and other ‘unbelievers,’ praised violent jihad as a ‘religious duty’ and to believe as fact the anti-Semitic forgeries known as ‘The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.’"

Now would it surprise anyone that the academy heads inform media that no such hate literature exists?

**What knowledgeable persons know about extremist Islamics is that they believe Allah permits them to lie, considering deceit a virtue when it furthers Islam World Rule. Therefore, for academicians at the school to boast that texts and instructors’ lectures are void of hate is exactly what Allah would decree. **

“Saudi officials said in response that the textbooks were being revamped and an official at the academy, who asked not to be named, said school textbooks were revised in 2006.

“The USCIRF was rebuffed when it asked the embassy this summer to see copies of the new textbooks, spokeswoman Judith Ingram said.

"’We’ve simply gotten nowhere with our requests,’ she added.”

Nowhere? What does that honestly say about academy officialdom? This is not rocket science. This is in-your-fact warning."

Good stuff there! I would guess a Moslem will now come out and say “You just don’t want to understand us!”

3- What is your proof…?
Of what? That your god decives?

Moslem scholars - those that believe Jesus didn’t die on the cross but was ‘substituted’ believe that al-Lah caused the Jews to believe that Jesus was being killed - that is, al-Lah deceived them into believing this was so.
7- Again, please facts not just specualtions and I’m sure you don’t know much about Islam, moreover, Al Jizya "let’s called tax for lack of better word’ is not applied merely as tax but sort of contirbution of none Muslims living under Muslim rule and to only those who can afford.
The tax is imposed on pain of death upon groups of people by virtue of their religion. That’s ‘compulsion’ based on religion

Further, you’ve still not dealt with Apostasy, and what happens to them!

Im not comparing anything, i just said we are NOT allowed to lie in Christianity. Period!
Then, you tell me you cant lie, then in the same post, tell me you can on 3 occasions…
So basically, muslims can lie…
Found this great article that explains Muslims’ concept of lying.

"Unfortunately, when dealing with Muslims, one must keep in mind that Muslims can communicate something with apparent sincerity, when in reality they may have just the opposite agenda in their hearts. Bluntly stated, Islam permits Muslims to lie anytime that they perceive that their own well-being, or that of Islam, is threatened.

In the sphere of international politics, the question is: Can Muslim countries be trusted to keep their end of the agreements that they sign with non-Muslim nations? It is a known Islamic practice, that when Muslims are weak they can agree with most anything. Once they become strong, then they negate what they formerly vowed."

Makes you wonder…
And there is no gray area with this, its either you can lie or you cant, not say ‘oh we dont lie… but we can under certain circumstances’
Its a contradiction.

**Vickie, let me agree with you on couple of things, you DO NOT like Muslims and Islam and that is your progrative, you can quote any article from anywhere that serves your purpose to discredited Islam and you can say and believe anything you want about Islam but one I will agree with you with you is to get reference from sites like this one islamreview.com/articles/lying.shtml
it’s really one of the worst anti-Islamic sites on the net and in all fairness you should not be quoting something about Islam from such sites, why because simply put the site is full of lies and half truths.

If you sincerely want to understand something or any thing about Islam then go to objective sites where you will get the truth.

Anyway, why is so important to most of you that you go out of your ways to make Islam bad, well it does not serve any purpose, if you think Islam is bad then let be and conclude it’s bad but don’t use the malicious sources to proof how bad Islam is.

ask your self this question and in all honesty, how much you and few anti-islam folks here do know about Islam…? how much do you understand about it…?

god almighty has given you the ability to reason and use common sense so applied to it and with more through knowledge. it will make you a better person if not a good catholic.

It is not Moslem (the English translation of the word Muslim is not Moslem). moreover, it’s not Muslim scholars who believe Jesus did not die on the cross it’s the Quran that say so and moreover so as some eastern churches. As matter of fact, I suggest that you get a copy of Book of James and read it.

Deception’s deception. If you’ve got the power to deceive and you deceive, then you’ve deceived! 👍

It is not Moslem (the English translation of the word Muslim is not Moslem).
It’s either Moslem, or Muslim. Both are used in English
moreover, it’s not Muslim scholars who believe Jesus did not die on the cross it’s the Quran that say so and moreover so as some eastern churches.
That’s not even a point on semantics. Moslems believe it, 'cause it’s in the Koran.
As matter of fact, I suggest that you get a copy of Book of James and read it.
Which ‘Book of James’; where in this ‘Book of James’ are you talking about?
Is this your opinion, if so explain it more and back it up with clear and complete Quran versus…? otherwise you are wrong…?
[9.29] Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.
Get a copy of the Jizya jurisprudence and it’s application.
Khalfan, a Moslem apologist was kind enough to cite this already…
It is well explained here.
His own site says this…
“Therefore, the command to fight in verse 9:29 relates to those non-Muslims who commit aggression and not those who are committed to live in peace.”

Living in peace means accepting the imposition of Islam, including the payment of the tax that’s imposed upon non-Moslems.

One of the deceptions of that site is interesting…
"The verse mentions Jizya, which is unfortunately misunderstood by some people. Like any nation, the Islamic government requires its citizens to pay taxes in return for its services. Since Muslims pay the Zakat, the non-Muslim citizens are required to pay Jizya (for more information on Jizya, please refer to Jizya in Islam and Jizyah and non-Muslim minorities). "
(Ibid.)

It would be fair if all the community were taxed the same regardless of their religion, but this isn’t so.
The Zakat is paid by Moslems at 2.5%. The Jizya paid for by non-Moslems is at 10% (though this site forgets to point out this difference) thus making a mockery of the following…
“Hence, the laws of Islam forbid Muslims from oppressing non-Muslims and command them to treat others with justice and compassion. In fact, the Prophet Muhammad himself forbade Muslims from harming non-Muslim citizens of an Islamic state or any non-Muslim with whom there was an agreement of peace, as he said,”
(Ibid.)
This is a mockery, because it talks of ‘justice’. In Islam justice is different from how we use it.

In Islam, if you separate an entire group and discriminate against them all, that’s justice - so if you make all non-Moslems pay an unfair tax, it’s justice!
They are forced to pay this
If they refuse to pay this tax to the state and rebel against the state, then it is the obligation of the state to confront them until they pay it.
(Ibid.)

Here’s Islamic opinion on it…
Islam is the religion of guidance, mercy and love, but there are people who force the Muslims to fight when they stand in the way of their conveying the guidance to mankind. The Muslims do not fight anyone until they have told them about the religion of Allah and given them the choice between two things, either accepting Islam or, if they refuse Islam and keep their own religions, paying the Jizyah (tax) to the Muslims in return for protection. If they refuse both of these choices, then they are to be fought.
islam-qa.com/index.php?ref=5976&ln=eng

You either pay, to submit, or you die. It’s like extortion. And you have to humiliate the Dhimmi in doing so…
Sheik Najih Ibrahim Ibn Abdulla summarizes the purpose of the Jizya. He says, quoting Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya, that the Jizya is enacted:
“…to spare the blood (of the Zimmis), to be a symbol of humiliation of the infidels and as an insult and punishment to them, and as the Shafiites indicate, the Jizya is offered in exchange for residing in an Islamic country." Thus Ibn Qayyim adds, "Since the entire religion belongs to God, it aims at humiliating ungodliness and its followers, and insulting them. Imposing the Jizya on the followers of ungodliness and oppressing them is required by God's religion. The Qur'anic text hints at this meaning when it says: until they give the tribute by force with humiliation.’ (Qur’an 9:29). What contradicts this is leaving the infidels to enjoy their might and practice their religion as they wish so that they would have power and authority.”
answering-islam.org/NonMuslims/rights.htm

The joke of Moslem apologists is that it’s a ‘tax’ on non-Moslems by the state - like non-Moslems are just paying their share. But that’s false, 'cause it’s imposed on non-Moslems that are ‘independent’ of the Moslem state - like paying ‘tribute’.

Volume 2, Book 24, Number 559:

Narrated Abu Humaid As-Sa’idi

We took part in the holy battle of Tabuk in the company of the Prophet and when we arrived at the Wadi-al-Qura, there was a woman in her garden. The Prophet asked his companions to estimate the amount of the fruits in the garden, and Allah’s Apostle estimated it at ten Awsuq (One Wasaq = 60 Sa’s) and 1 Sa’= 3 kg. approximately). The Prophet said to that lady, “Check what your garden will yield.” When we reached Tabuk, the Prophet said, “There will be a strong wind to-night and so no one should stand and whoever has a camel, should fasten it.” So we fastened our camels. A strong wind blew at night and a man stood up and he was blown away to a mountain called Taiy, The King of Aila sent a white mule and a sheet for wearing to the Prophet as a present, and wrote to the Prophet that his people would stay in their place (and will pay Jizya taxation.) (1) When the Prophet reached Wadi-al-Qura he asked that woman how much her garden had yielded. She said, “Ten Awsuq,” and that was what Allah’s Apostle had estimated. Then the Prophet said, “I want to reach Medina quickly, and whoever among you wants to accompany me, should hurry up.” The sub-narrator Ibn Bakkar said something which meant: When the Prophet (p.b.u.h) saw Medina he said, “This is Taba.” And when he saw the mountain of Uhud, he said, “This mountain loves us and we love it. Shall I tell you of the best amongst the Ansar?” They replied in the affirmative. He said, “The family of Bani-n-Najjar, and then the family of Bani Sa’ida or Bani Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj. (The above-mentioned are the best) but there is goodness in all the families of Ansar.”

Volume 4, Book 53, Number 386:

Narrated Jubair bin Haiya:

'Umar sent the Muslims to the great countries to fight the pagans. When Al-Hurmuzan embraced Islam, 'Umar said to him. “I would like to consult you regarding these countries which I intend to invade.” Al-Hurmuzan said, “Yes, the example of these countries and their inhabitants who are the enemies. of the Muslims, is like a bird with a head, two wings and two legs; If one of its wings got broken, it would get up over its two legs, with one wing and the head; and if the other wing got broken, it would get up with two legs and a head, but if its head got destroyed, then the two legs, two wings and the head would become useless. The head stands for Khosrau, and one wing stands for Caesar and the other wing stands for Faris. So, order the Muslims to go towards Khosrau.” So, ‘Umar sent us (to Khosrau) appointing An-Numan bin Muqrin as our commander. When we reached the land of the enemy, the representative of Khosrau came out with forty-thousand warriors, and an interpreter got up saying, “Let one of you talk to me!” Al-Mughira replied, “Ask whatever you wish.” The other asked, “Who are you?” Al-Mughira replied, "We are some people from the Arabs; we led a hard, miserable, disastrous life: we used to suck the hides and the date stones from hunger; we used to wear clothes made up of fur of camels and hair of goats, and to worship trees and stones. While we were in this state, the Lord of the Heavens and the Earths, Elevated is His Remembrance and Majestic is His Highness, sent to us from among ourselves a Prophet whose father and mother are known to us. Our Prophet, the Messenger of our Lord, has ordered us to fight you till you worship Allah Alone or give Jizya (i.e. tribute); and our Prophet has informed us that our Lord says:-- “Whoever amongst us is killed (i.e. martyred), shall go to Paradise to lead such a luxurious life as he has never seen, and whoever amongst us remain alive, shall become your master.” (Al-Mughira, then blamed An-Numan for delaying the attack and) An-Nu’ man said to Al-Mughira, “If you had participated in a similar battle, in the company of Allah’s Apostle he would not have blamed you for waiting, nor would he have disgraced you. But I accompanied Allah’s Apostle in many battles and it was his custom that if he did not fight early by daytime, he would wait till the wind had started blowing and the time for the prayer was due (i.e. after midday).”

Volume 5, Book 59, Number 351:

Narrated Al-Miswar bin Makhrama:

That 'Amr bin Auf, who was an ally of Bani 'Amir bin Luai and one of those who fought at Badr in the company of the Prophet , said, "Allah’s Apostle sent Abu 'Ubaida bin Al-Jarrah to Bahrain to bring the Jizya taxation from its people, for Allah’s Apostle had made a peace treaty with the people of Bahrain and appointed Al-‘Ala’ bin Al-Hadrami as their ruler. So, Abu 'Ubaida arrived with the money from Bahrain. When the Ansar heard of the arrival of Abu 'Ubaida (on the next day) they offered the morning prayer with the Prophet and when the morning prayer had finished, they presented themselves before him. On seeing the Ansar, Allah’s Apostle smiled and said, “I think you have heard that Abu 'Ubaida has brought something?” They replied, “Indeed, it is so, O Allah’s Apostle!” He said, “Be happy, and hope for what will please you. By Allah, I am not afraid that you will be poor, but I fear that worldly wealth will be bestowed upon you as it was bestowed upon those who lived before you. So you will compete amongst yourselves for it, as they competed for it and it will destroy you as it did them.”

Thanks for the projection. It’s not just Bukhari that has this ‘protection’ money. Muslim collection has it too…
Book 019, Number 4294:

It has been reported from Sulaiman b. Buraid through his father that when the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) appointed anyone as leader of an army or detachment he would especially exhort him to fear Allah and to be good to the Muslims who were with him. He would say: Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war, do not embezzle the spoils; do not break your pledge; and do not mutilate (the dead) bodies; do not kill the children. When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them. Then invite them to migrate from their lands to the land of Muhairs and inform them that, if they do so, they shall have all the privileges and obligations of the Muhajirs. If they refuse to migrate, tell them that they will have the status of Bedouin Muilims and will be subjected to the Commands of Allah like other Muslims, but they will not get any share from the spoils of war or Fai’ except when they actually fight with the Muslims (against the disbelievers). If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah’s help and fight them. When you lay siege to a fort and the besieged appeal to you for protection in the name of Allah and His Prophet, do not accord to them the guarantee of Allah and His Prophet, but accord to them your own guarantee and the guarantee of your companions for it is a lesser sin that the security given by you or your companions be disregarded than that the security granted in the name of Allah and His Prophet be violated When you besiege a fort and the besieged want you to let them out in accordance with Allah’s Command, do not let them come out in accordance with His Command, but do so at your (own) command, for you do not know whether or not you will be able to carry out Allah’s behest with regard to them.

And Moslems are proud of the ‘humiliation’ of non-Moslems…
as-Suyuti:

(Fight those of the people who do not have iman in Allah and the Last Day) This is the basis for accepting jizya from the People of the Book, and it is a refutation of those who accept it from others. “With their own hands”. It is related by Abu Hatim from Qatada to be by force, and by Abu Sufyan to be by ability. Its literal meaning is that it is not taken from someone in a state of hardship as Ibn al-Majishun stated. Ibn 'Uyayna said that “with thier own hands” means that it is not sent with someone else. This is used as evidence by those who say that a Muslim cannot be delegated to do it, nor can he guarantee it for him nor transfer it from him to himself, but the dhimmi must pay it in person.

(state of abasement) Ibn 'Abbas said: they are pushed. Ibn Abi Hatim transmitted that. It is transmitted that al-Mughira told Rustam, “I call you to Islam or else you must pay the jizya while you are in a state of abasement.” He said, “I know what jizya means, but what does ‘a state of abasement’ mean?” He replied, “You pay it while you are standing and I am sitting and the whip hanging is over your head.” Abu’sh-Shaykh related that Sa’id ibn al-Musayyab said, “I prefer that the people of the dhimma become tired by paying the jizya since He says, ‘until they pay the jizya with their own hands in a state of complete abasement.’” It is used as a proof by those who say that it is taken in a humiliating way, and so the taker sits and the dhimmi stands with his head bowed and his back bent. The jizya is placed in the balance and the taker seizes his beard and hits his chin. This is rejected according to an-Nawawi who said, “This manner is invalid.” This ayat is used as a proof by those who say that the people of the dhimma are left in the landa of Islam because it is understood that one refrains from fighting them when they pay it.
