How is you, providing proof of my point me being negative about Islam?

That’s true. But how is it you object to me making claims about Islam, and then you prove my claims - such as what happens to Apostates?
**I’m against personal opinions that are not based on knowledge of the subject matter, not just your personal opinions since you are have every right to any and all of them moreover, you are very welcome to point out any claims as you like…? what do they proof by the end, not much i guest…?
The basic idea is that we are exchanging information, me being a Muslim and you been a Catholic is not going to change…is it…?
so we better leave it there…what you say.
one last thing, I never object to the fact Jizya or anything like that is not mentioned and at some stage followed in Islam, what I was objecting to it was your insinuations and lack of deep knowledge of it.

Nothing is wrong is that unless you are an Islamic scholar and if you are then I will back off…👍 **

Im not answering for Montalban, but i think you will find he has done a LOT of research on Islam, he is quite knowledgeable on the subject, its not just his own opinion.

Yes, but what does the Quran instructs and teaches…? not the Tafseer and Ahaathids…?

Again, let me point out since when have that been applied…?
About which point? You gave proofs of what happen to Apostates.

I’m against personal opinions that are not based on knowledge of the subject matter, not just your personal opinions since you are have every right to any and all of them moreover, you are very welcome to point out any claims as you like…? what do they proof by the end, not much i guest…?
I’m against people who object to my argument and then provide proofs that support me.

You’re quite happy to do this; it’s part of the illogic of Islam - to hold mutually exclusive points at once.

You objected to me saying you’re allowed to lie in Islam, then you gave examples where this is okay.

You objected to me saying Apostates are killed, then you said that they are.

You challenged me to provide evidences. I did so. You still say that I’m only offering my opinion -without addressing where in fact you think I’m wrong. In short, you’re just argumentative; arguing for arguments sake.
The basic idea is that we are exchanging information, me being a Muslim and you been a Catholic is not going to change…is it…?
Well, I’m not Catholic. I’ve already told you this
so we better leave it there…what you say.
Given you don’t even note where I say I’m not Catholic, then yes, you’re probably not going to change your mind - let alone address anything I say
what I was objecting to it was your insinuations and lack of deep knowledge of it.
Yes, but that just becomes an insinuation itself, given you’ve not shown where it is you think I’m wrong.

You also have to realise that I’m not the only one reading your posts. If you can’t even begin to form ANY argument in response then you’re just confirming that in Islam, logic has no place.

Im not answering for Montalban, but i think you will find he has done a LOT of research on Islam, he is quite knowledgeable on the subject, its not just his own opinion.
Thank you for your words of kindness and support

I’m against people who object to my argument and then provide proofs that support me.

You’re quite happy to do this; it’s part of the illogic of Islam - to hold mutually exclusive points at once.

Illogical of Islam…this is the key, you claiming to be knowledgeable of Islam, so use reason and commonsense as so frequently noted in the Quran.

Let’s be honest with each other and answer me these, Do you Like Islam…or Muslims or do you think Islam is a sort of Bogus faith, if in fact you answer “Yes” to these questions then the whole discussion is pointles, why because you ahve already formed a strong opnion to justify your feelings and strenghting your arguement, so let’s move on, if not read on

Remember, it’s what you are claiming not necessarily what it’s, it’s very likely that you could be illogical unless you are so immensely knowledgeable which I doubt is the case.

You objected to me saying you’re allowed to lie in Islam, then you gave examples where this is okay.

I object to the nature, reason, end game, benefit of the lie not whether it’s allowed or not and again under what circumstances, reasons, to who’s benefits…use common sense…in addition, your quoted a Hadith and I was trying to inform you about the nature of hadiths, their authenticity, etc.

Let me kindly disagree with you, I object to how you presented the fact not where these facts are already there, you basically collecting what you think where shortcomings of Islam without giving enough explanations, that is what I object.

You objected to me saying Apostates are killed, then you said that they are.

Again, we are not talking about the same thing, your point is this, Islam is bad because this what it does or the teachs “no compulsion in religion” is not true because this is how Islam deals with people who leave Islam and I was not dis-proofing the fact Islam deals with Apostates but how and under what part of the Fiqh.

You challenged me to provide evidences. I did so. You still say that I’m only offering my opinion -without addressing where in fact you think I’m wrong. In short, you’re just argumentative; arguing for arguments sake.

You have provided an outstanding arguments but no evidence of knowledge, again I ask you how does Islam deals with apostates, please give clear evidence and references from The Quran, The Fiqh, The Hadiths and from School of Thoughts.

I will safe you the hustle and time, you will not because you don’t know it and please don’t refer to those Anti-Isalmic sites, they do the best of cherry pickings and will be any use to neither of us or the folks who are reading this thread.

Well, I’m not Catholic. I’ve already told you this

Given you don’t even note where I say I’m not Catholic, then yes, you’re probably not going to change your mind - let alone address anything I say

Sorry, my mistake, I thought you were but then that was a mistake, I forget believe or not, you can remind me if you don’t mind.

Yes, but that just becomes an insinuation itself, given you’ve not shown where it is you think I’m wrong.

Wrong, what I said and repeatedly saying is that you point out something you would like to believe is wrong with Islam without actually explaining it or giving it’s contacts, etc.

You also have to realise that I’m not the only one reading your posts. If you can’t even begin to form ANY argument in response then you’re just confirming that in Islam, logic has no place.

My counter arguments is simple, you hardly know much about islam because if you did we would be having this discussion, it’s not fair to pick up what you like to paint as negative and then stop short of explaining why, How, etc, etc.

This is what lots folks who don’t like Islam or don’t want understand it do…😉

My solution, don’t cut and past from some ill informed sources…let it be or and unless you are really interested then let’s go on point to point but no cherry picking. the end.🙂

AbeOman just saying I’m wrong is hardly convincing, even if you take several sentences to say that.
AbeOsman:
Let me kindly disagree with you, I object to how you presented the fact not where these facts are already there, you basically collecting what you think where shortcomings of Islam without giving enough explanations, that is what I object.
But you agreed that what I said is allowed in Islam! 🤷

And how is it not a compulsion if you’re faced with death?

That’s a hoot! Only someone who agrees with you, must know Islam!

So now you’re calling the Hadith ill-informed! 👍 I cited Islamic texts and Islamic sites! 😃 😃

Montalban, to save time, all you have to say is, i am right 👍

Montalban, to save time, all you have to say is, i am right 👍
That seems to be the Islamic argument. You just must believe me. If you don’t, it’s just 'cause you don’t understand!

When I quote Islamic advice sites, he calls tehm ill-informed (probably because he just assumed I quoted anti-Islamic sites)

and he has it down pat as well, ive never seen so many explanations for ‘you are wrong’

Yes, but what does the Quran instructs and teaches…? not the Tafseer and Ahaathids…?

Since the basic law of Islam is 100% derived and based in the Quran. don’t you know this, so talk to me the Ayah or Surah in full and with explanations. no cut and paste:)

By the way, on a personal opinion and a simple common sense, so what if Quran wants to tells us to kill whoever leaves Islam even though that is the case, you think it’s rotten then so be it…it’s my rotten believe and I’m willing to live by it. is that fair.

in other words, I don’t have to or need to defend Islam against anyone on this forum because the the problem lies those who are tacking Islam and not with Islam due to their lack of knowledge or whatever their reasons may be. simply put anyone who sincerely wants to learn more about Islam would not be asking it on a catholic forum…this is bit oxymoron…!!, don’t you agree.
never-the-less, what I’m prepared to do is that if someone has a genuine questions about Islam as I do with Catholicism and would like to explore and expand their knowledge then I can answer if I can or point them to someone else who is more knowledgeable then I am.
End of.

So you dont have the answers…
Doesnt this mean you might be following the wrong religion then?

About which point? You gave proofs of what happen to Apostates.
Furthermore, let me inform you fully and without and cherry picking on this subject of how Islam deals with Apostates and only if you mean “Irtidaa” or someone denouncing Islam or leaving Islam or becoming a Murtad.

First, Punishment for irtidad is based on hadith, not on Qur’an. Let me now see what the Quran has down as far as apostasy is concerned.

Even if one relies on hadith for legislating on some important issue and there is no direct pronouncement on it in Qur’an, one has to look for the principle laid down in the Qur’an and the law will have to be based on the principle laid down by the Qur’an. If we look for the principle concerned, it is clearly laid down in the Qur’an i.e. freedom of conscience. It is stated in number of verses, which are often quoted by those developing theory of Islamic human rights. One of these verses states “**There is no compulsion in religion…” (2:256) and “For you is your religion and for me is mine” (109:6). **

As you can see from the above, both these verses lay down the principle that one is guaranteed freedom of faith and conscience. There is no question of any compulsion in the matter of belief. In fact this is a very important principle because for genuine faith one has to choose it freely. In other words faith goes with freedom of choice. Most of us believe in this or that faith not because we have chosen it freely but as we have accepted it by way of our birth. But those who adopt this or that faith by deeper study and of free choice their belief is far better qualitatively.

Second, for Islamic law, as is well known there are two principal sources i.e. Qur’an and hadith and two subsidiary sources i.e. **qiyas (analogy) and ijma’ (consensus) both of which are human. **However, in Shia’ah Islam qiyas and ijma’ are not accepted and instead Imam of the time is considered an authority for pronouncing a law and in the absence of imam a mujtahid (interpretor of Qur’an and sunnah lays down the law in Shi’a than Ashari Islam.

Thus of the two principal sources the Qur’an is divine and is primarily relied upon on any issue. If there is clear pronouncement in the Qur’an it is sufficient to lay down the law; if not hadith is consulted and if it is not found in either than a jurist (faqih) relies on his analogical reasoning and tries to develop consensus (ijma’) around it. The real problem arises when hadith is in contradiction to the Qur’an. Some jurists maintain that hadith will be rejected and the Qur’anic pronouncement will prevail but some maintain that hadith will prevail and hadith will supersede Qur’an. And of course, if the Qur’an is silent on the issue then hadith will be the source, if it is found in the hadith.

I personally and strongly believe if the Hadith contradicts any verse of the Quran then it’s not admissible. so the whole idea of putting a Murtad to death varies from one School to another.

To be continued…

A) I asked, already which thing you’re asking for more info on
B) Islamic law is not derived 100% from the Koran
C) how would I show you from the Koran without cutting and pasting from it? Do you want me to recite the Koran from memory? 🙂

Note the title of the thread has the words ‘my thoughts’. Logic has been missed by you in your ‘challenge’ above.

I didn’t say the Koran tells you to do that. I says it threatens to kill you. Some, would be compelled in staying in Islam - which is the objection I raised about ‘no compulsion’ in religion.
in other words, I don’t have to or need to defend Islam against anyone on this forum because the the problem lies those who are tacking Islam
But you have been attempting to defend it, by two means

a) just-so statements that everyone is wrong
b) actually contradictng yourself by supporting my points.
and not with Islam due to their lack of knowledge or whatever their reasons may be. simply put anyone who sincerely wants to learn more about Islam would not be asking it on a catholic forum…this is bit oxymoron…!!, don’t you agree.
It’s not an Oxymoron at all. The fact that this Catholic group is willing to let you discuss your faith is quite good of them. Maybe in Islamic thinking it’s illogical to do this - to be hospitable to opposing thoughts.
never-the-less, what I’m prepared to do is that if someone has a genuine questions about Islam as I do with Catholicism and would like to explore and expand their knowledge then I can answer if I can or point them to someone else who is more knowledgeable then I am.
You’ve been shown from Islamic sources certain points. Then you call for Islamic sources. That’s just weird.

You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A dimension where mutually exclusive arguments can be held. Where some appeal to Islamic sites, but reject those given as unknowledgeable.

You’ve entered…

Correction, I made typographical error and the sentence should read "this is not the case" because equivocally Quran NEVER allowed such thing

My dear, of coarse I know and have most of the answers but who is interested in answers anyway.

Thanks for posting on thsi at least you give me a chance to correct my mistake.

God bless,

an-Nisa’ 4:89
Waddoo law takfuroona kama kafaroo fatakoonoona sawaan fala tattakhithoo minhum awliyaa hatta yuhajiroo fee sabeeli Allahi fa-in tawallaw fakhuthoohum waoqtuloohum haythu wajadtumoohum wala tattakhithoo minhum waliyyan wala naseeran

They wished/loved if you disbelieve, as they disbelieved, so you become equal/alike. So do not take from them allies , until they emigrate in God’s sake, so if they turned away, so take/punish them and fight/kill them, where/when you found them, and do not take from them an ally , and nor a supporter/savior.

Seems to me you are commanded to seize and fight those who TURN AWAY from Allah after they have emigrated to him (i.e. accepted Islam).

A) I asked, already which thing you’re asking for more info on

CORRECTIONS
B) Islamic law is not derived 100% from the Koran, NO my friend you are wrong anything that is in contradiction is no in Islamic Law ans has no value what s ever, please read my new post dealing with “Irtidaa”
C) how would I show you from the Koran without cutting and pasting from it? Do you want me to recite the Koran from memory? 🙂
Not necessarily, you seem to post what you feel is wrong with Islam without going further details and showing the whole picture…you have been very selective and that is wrong.
Note the title of the thread has the words ‘my thoughts’. Logic has been missed by you in your ‘challenge’ above.

Your thoughts are wrong and that is my point, least the process and method yo have presented them visavis Islam are wrong.
I didn’t say the Koran tells you to do that. I says it threatens to kill you. Some, would be compelled in staying in Islam - which is the objection I raised about ‘no compulsion’ in religion.

I have detailed it in my newer post, please read it in more detailed fashion.

But you have been attempting to defend it, by two means

a) just-so statements that everyone is wrong
b) actually contradictng yourself by supporting my points.

It’s not an Oxymoron at all. The fact that this Catholic group is willing to let you discuss your faith is quite good of them. Maybe in Islamic thinking it’s illogical to do this - to be hospitable to opposing thoughts.

There you go with your allegations and you missed the point I was making, if I want to learn about Islam I would have gone to a Islamic site not a Catholic or any other site…that is the spirit of my point and has nothing to do about to be hospitable to other opinions.

You’ve been shown from Islamic sources certain points. Then you call for Islamic sources. That’s just weird.

You have been using Anti-Islamic sources and basically cherry picking what you want and that is the fact.

You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A dimension where mutually exclusive arguments can be held. Where some appeal to Islamic sites, but reject those given as unknowledgeable.

I I reject fabrications, half truths and writing up stuff that suits my ends without getting the whole picture that is not good or a fair think to do.and honestly you don’t much about Islam let alone be knowledgeable about it

This is a red-herring. Not everything in Islam is in the Koran.

No. That’s false. The Koranic verses on ‘compulsion’ were abroagated by other Koranic verses.

The verse has been abrogated. The abrogating verse is Koran 9:73
AT-TAWBA (REPENTANCE, DISPENSATION)
009.073
YUSUFALI: O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell,- an evil refuge indeed.
PICKTHAL: O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites! Be harsh with them. Their ultimate abode is hell, a hapless journey’s end.
SHAKIR: O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination
usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/009.qmt.html

This is why there’s no pagan Arabs. They were either slain, or compelled to convert.

con’t…

I’m glad you bring that up. Al-Shafi’i interpreted Koran 2.217 as meaning that Apostates should be killed. And this is the guy who founded one of the four Sunni Islamic schools of thought.

The verse…
AL-BAQARA (THE COW)
002.217
YUSUFALI: They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month. Say: “Fighting therein is a grave (offence); but graver is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its members.” Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you Turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be companions of the Fire and will abide therein.
PICKTHAL: They question thee (O Muhammad) with regard to warfare in the sacred month. Say: Warfare therein is a great (transgression), but to turn (men) from the way of Allah, and to disbelieve in Him and in the Inviolable Place of Worship, and to expel His people thence, is a greater with Allah; for persecution is worse than killing. And they will not cease from fighting against you till they have made you renegades from your religion, if they can. And whoso becometh a renegade and dieth in his disbelief: such are they whose works have fallen both in the world and the Hereafter. Such are rightful owners of the Fire: they will abide therein.
SHAKIR: They ask you concerning the sacred month about fighting in it. Say: Fighting in it is a grave matter, and hindering (men) from Allah’s way and denying Him, and (hindering men from) the Sacred Mosque and turning its people out of it, are still graver with Allah, and persecution is graver than slaughter; and they will not cease fighting with you until they turn you back from your religion, if they can; and whoever of you turns back from his religion, then he dies while an unbeliever-- these it is whose works shall go for nothing in this world and the hereafter, and they are the inmates of the fire; therein they shall abide.
usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/002.qmt.html

Al-Tha’alibi and al-Khazan agreed with this interpretation.

Baydawi the great commentator on the Koran said "“Whosover turns back from his belief ( irtada ), openly or secretly, take him and kill him wheresoever ye find him, like any other infidel. Separate yourself from him altogether. Do not accept intercession in his regard”.
muslimunity.blogspot.com/2006/05/islam-simplified.html

Abul Ala Mawdudi also thought that apostates should die.

Funny how AbeOman feels it is all right for him to ‘cherry-pick’ the verses that he thinks supports his point yet bemoans that for others.
