Thank you to all for your prayers and good wishes. Please include all at that hospital in these prayers also. There are some very sad cases there, who will be there until their end due to the chronic nature of their illnesses.
I must tell you that there is seldom a gloomy face when I see them (about 30 people in total in her ward) and their cheerfulness can only be a remarkable grace that sustains and comforts.
One young African (Zulu tribe) girl, about 16, was so badly beaten by a family member that she is partially paralysed, but is able to be in a wheelchair in the mornings, spending the rest of the day in her bed. She is beautiful, and has a most lovely and timid smile and nature. She was very keen for something to read, so I took her four coloring-in books, each telling a story of the lives of the saints or Our Lady in simple English, alternate pages having a picture to be colored in (already done by my children many years ago). She was very happy to have these, and treasures them. So now after all these years in the cupboard, they have found a good home. One is the story of the Miraculous Medal.
Another African (Zulu tribe) young woman, about 25 years of age, is more seriously paralyzed, but can also sit up mornings in her wheelchair. She is now improving and wheels around ‘selling’ sweets to patients and visitors from a small container infront of her. You have to open it (as her one hand is partial) and pop the money in, and take your sweets. She has the most amazing big happy smile at nearly all times, even though she suffers fevers and other neurological effects of her condition. She was a victim of an armed robbery at a supermarket where she worked.
These are just two people of whom I have the privilege to be ‘smiled’ upon. They give hope and courage, showing the Mercy and Grace of God which is so evidently at work in them.

Hail Mary full of grace
The Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou amongst women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus
Holy Mary Mother of God
Pray for us sinners
Now and at the hour of our death
Amen
