Seriously though, I think in general, Catholics have WAY more fun… we pray hard… but still know how to have a good time. I used to attend a church that said no drinking, no dancing, no playing cards and no co-ed swimming. Now THERE’S a hard place for a ESFP. 😉

Funny how things work out! I used to be a Baptist/Evangelical who wasn’t allowed to do anything, but I snuck around and did everything (as did most of the fellow Baptists I grew up with)! :tsktsk:

Now I am a Catholic who is permitted to do much more than a Baptist would approve of (while still not everything I used to do! 😉 ) and now I don’t do anything! :rolleyes:

I was too old and worn out by the time I became Catholic to enjoy my newfound freedom! 😛
 
One of the things I like about the Catholic Church is that we are allowed to have some fun and live a little bit. Not TOO much fun, but a little bit…😉

I have an aunt who used to refer to the Catholic families in her neighborhood as the “sinners down the street”! She didn’t consider herself to be a “sinner” because she followed all the “rules”, but love was not part of the means of measure, that’s for sure! Of course, I’m one of “those sinners” now, even though I am very well behaved for once! I have again become the black sheep of the family. They probably think that since I became too tired to shame them in the usual manner, I became Catholic instead! 😉
 
Another NF, here. 👋

I’m an INFJ, RCIA member. I am very orthodox in my beliefs, too, even though I’m a sort of newcomer…I’m not sure Myers-Briggs type has anything to do with all that, since I’m sure many equally solid orthodox believing Catholics exist of all types, but just for the sake of it, this is mine. 👍

Years ago, there was a discussion in a forum about how the different personality types would appreciate heaven. The few ideas I remember were the following:

SJ types would especially appreciate the “streets are paved with gold” aspect of God’s boundless beauty.

NF types would especially appreciate the deeply meaningful emotional relationship with God who is Love.

NT types would especially appreciate knowing God and being known by God who is Truth.

Forgive me for not recalling anything specific about SP types … I would guess that SPs would especially appreciate experiencing heavenly activities filled with the thrilling satisfaction of eternal life?

As for prayer styles, as an INTJ, I accordingly test out as Thomistic, and I’d say the results of these personality tests are accurate in my case.

No worries, mefriend, I’ve known people who were “half-breeds,” like INFJ/P, or E/ISFJ. Seeing as how we’re all unique individuals, and how these categories are basically tools we can use as guidelines, such things can easily happen. 🙂

I’ve also noticed that test results can vary a bit depending on how the questions are worded, … and that if the questions are vague or ambiguous enough that you want to equally select two different answers because each applies logically depending on how you interpret the question/answer, that can skew things.

Thanks! I did seem not to be able to decide on some of the questions as easily, because I tend to fluxuate in the way I respond to real life situations in general, and some days my rational side wins the day, some days my heart does! I guess I am a half breed after all, and I actually feel better about that, like I’m not being pigeon-holed or something!

Actually, I’d say you’re in good company. If I remember right, there’s been some speculation about such noteworthy people as Mother Teresa and the Virgin Mary … that each of these women were both introverted and extroverted. Introverted when it came to contemplation and “pondering things in the heart” … extroverted when it came to reaching out to the poor in the street, or visiting Elizabeth.

I also read on a forum (and wish I could remember to whom I should give credit but sadly I don’t know) … that the personality of Jesus contained all of the strengths of every personality type, and the weaknesses of none.

I took this back when I was in school and I was an ENTJ then.
I’m also cradle Catholic who was “in name only” for years. Only went Mass on Easter/Christmas during that time.

The last time I took this was on another forum, a mom’s forum. We have a very wide variety of beliefs on that forum and what was interesting to note was that of those who posted we had more INTJs than any other group. Next up were the ENFJs. There were also more Introverts than Extroverts.

I have changed since the last time I took this test some years ago. I used to be INTJ. I will agree with the Protector Guardian description though and I feel I must be in good company with Mother Teresa being one of the examples. (when did she take one of these tests that they would know anyway?) Although, I am somewhat concerned about the ‘judging’ bit. It would be good to understand their definition.

Oh, yes, and I am a Catholic who converted from no previous faith 26 years ago! (well, 28 actually, if you count the 2 years it took to join) 👍
 
I’m ENFP except once I took the test and got INFP. I guess I was in an intorverted mood. LOL

Considering the varied personality types of Catholic Saints, I would say that any personality type can be Catholic. There are so many different aspects that may draw someone to the faith–the intellectual rigour, the piety, etc. I imagine God planned it that way! 😉
 
So far I haven’t seen a single person reporting my personality type–I’m an ISTJ and a convert…
