The answer to this question requires more than a simple yes or no answer. If you are a user of MySpace, I invite you to check out my tip on the Catholic Tech Tips Blog titled “MySpace & Mozilla Firefox”.

God Bless,

Joshua

I like my Myspace page perfectly well, thank you very much.

However, you do have to use a bit of common sense. Don’t add people you don’t know, and just in general don’t be stupid.

Personally, I have my profile set up as private, so the most anybody can see is my first name only and my picture , which isn’t of me, and a fake location, unless I have them added as a friend. I have no pictures on it. You can only comment me/contact me in any way/add me as a friend if you know my email address, which few people know, or my last name, which I do not have on there.

Plus, after all that, I don’t put any personally identifiable information on there, even though just my school friends can see it. Who knows, maybe one of their accounts could get hijacked?

I have a Myspace and it is a lot of fun. I keep up with family members across the country that I may never meet and only send Christmas cards to. Myspace helps me know them better. I also keep up with a lot of friends from my past with it. I do not use Myspace to make friends.

I love that I can decorate and change it to fit my personality. And also that I can make it private.

I have had my myspace account for years now and love it. I am glad that I can find classmates that I went to school with. Myspace even helped me reunite with someone that I use to pen pal with from the Czech Republic. I am able to save money not only on long distance calls but also postage on sending something in the mail. I find it brilliant. And yes, you can have your privacy settings towhere no one can contact you unless they know information about you. It is a great program. I have my family on there. My neices and nephews and it is just great.
