Has anyone ever had any mystical experiences (like St. John of the Cross/Teresa of Avila, spiritual ecstasy, etc) from being involved in mystical prayer. I’d be interested in hearing them
I have had brief but profound mystical experiences throughout my life. When I do have one I am thankful. The mystical paths of St Theresa and St John were through severe asceticism so my experiences are likely different but do contain some similarities such as the overwhelming feeling of peace, oneness with the universe and the presence of something greater than can be expressed. Due to my curious nature I have studied their psychological, physiological and neuro-biological basis. Until recently I have not actively sought out such experiences but I am now in the process of exploring and developing my mystical nature.Has anyone ever had any mystical experiences (like St. John of the Cross/Teresa of Avila, spiritual ecstasy, etc) from being involved in mystical prayer. I’d be interested in hearing them![]()
Wow. Talk about the power of prayer!I have had a couple experiences with spiritual beings, but they do not relate to any particular moment of prayer. (So you may also stop reading now, since this has nothing to do with OP.)
One time when my doc told me I had miscarried, but did not want to go ahead with the OP; I felt the presence of an angel with my son and I had instantly the knowledge that he was in a better place now. That I could go ahead with the OP that was necessary, it would no more hurt my baby.
Sometimes when I have been thinking about career in singing, in thruth I am quite good; I have felt sometime a presence a very real one, of something evil, telling me that he can give me what I want, if I follow him. After praying a couple of Ave Marias it went away. I decided that I could never do such a trade, I rather give up that ridiculous dream.
The other day in a tram, a woman sat opposite to me, her fingers were full of silver rings, native American, Egyptian, cobra, skulls, you name it. I got a very disturbing feeling about her and that she was dabbling to something evil. I got so scared, not for me, but for her soul that I started to pray for her. Especially the Our Father, Ave Maria, Glory Be and Fatima, by the time I finished the third time, she looked straight to my eye, appearing disconcerted, and left in the next station.
Bottom line is, that all of this has made me think that spiritual warfare is on going and very real.
I would imagine so! If you could elaborate that would be appreciatedI have met Dad, God the Father, and I have met the Holy Spirit, Who revealed to me that the Catholic Eucharist Is Jesus and I have met satan and I have experienced both hell and spiritual death, even tho I have never actively sought out any mystical experience, do these count?
On 28 Jan 2000, Who is referred to as God the Father came into my heart but it wasn’t that He came into my heart, it was that He was already there but gradually let it be known to me that He was there, I knew something “good” was happening but I didn’t know what and it went from not knowing exactly what was happeining to knowing that it was God the Father and He did not say a word, He did not have to, I knew in an instant, so to speak, that what I learned in second grade that “God Is Love” is quite literal in that God Is a Being of Love as opposed to Love being an attribute of God.I would imagine so! If you could elaborate that would be appreciated![]()
That is quite profound.I was praying the rosary at adoration and was using a book to meditate on the mysteries and I was on The Nativity. One of the things the book suggested was to ask Mary to show you how Jesus is born on the altar at each Mass. I finished the decade and was ready to move to the next but couldn’t. Not physically, but in my heart. So I paused for a moment and tried again but again I felt compelled to wait. So I thought, “okay, you want me to rest on this one” so I did. I let myself be still. I saw in my mind the church I was going to. It was dark except for the sanctuary especially the altar which looked like it had a soft spotlight on it. I saw a priest elevate the Host which was huge, like the size of a salad plate. He held it up and it began to glow. It started out white but turned a gold-peach-pink color and then the Host became the baby Jesus with the priest holding Jesus one hand in each of his so Jesus was standing on the altar, on his toes like babies when they are learning to stand…and that’s where I’ll stop as this is a very personal thing and I think the rest is supposed to be just for me. I think it’s relevant to mention that when I had been struggling with my faith only a couple of years before it was the belief in the True Presence that had become a stumbling block. I didn’t get it, I couldn’t believe it. At the time the vision happened I didn’t need convincing so this was a gift, plain and simple
I also was praying at a grotto near a church that had perpetual adoration. I was looking at all the candles and flowers that people had left by the statue. For a moment I wished I had something to leave and I heard "All I want is your heart.
It happened a long time ago and I’ve decided to share it even though is seems like a very intimate thing to share. I’m concerned how others might interpret/misinterpret it without the context; I mentioned some of it but every meditation leading up to it or my prayer life outside of that moment provides the foundation and frame for me. And I don’t want to frustrate those who desire something like this, who want signs and wonder why they don’t have a similar experience. For what it’s worth, I haven’t experienced anything like those things since. And I still struggled with believing at times. “Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.”That is quite profound.
Be careful with what you wish for Free thinker! the Devil can also mislead you into believing lies about God ,mankind and yourself.I’ve recently discovered that I am psychic and can read people. I am also currently trying to will myself to have an out of body experience so that my consciousness can travel to other dimensions so that I can get some answers that I am seeking about life after death.
I also had an epiphany that we are all spiritual beings that have always existed and that our higher selves are God, basically meaning that God is not a seperate entity, rather, we ARE God. We are all facets of God having our own experiences of all creation.
I am curious why you asked about mystical experiences.Has anyone ever had any mystical experiences (like St. John of the Cross/Teresa of Avila, spiritual ecstasy, etc) from being involved in mystical prayer. I’d be interested in hearing them![]()
