Is the changing of a child’s name after baptism allowed? We were thinking about changing our baby’s name, which we are allowed to do legally but it seems that the matter is more complicated in the church from what we have found out so far…

The name recorded will always remain in the record. However when a child is Adopted and in some other cases of legal name change. The new name is noted along with the original name, and it is possible for a new Baptismal “certificate” to be issued. IF he or she shows up 20 years from now they will be able to find either name.
