Name of the Lord in Vain

“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain”

So would saying OMG out loud or texting this be a mortal sin? Almost everyone, Catholic , Protestant, Jewish that I know says this daily.

Please let me know your opinions. I was taught you can’t use God’s name to swear upon evil.
