Name one or two ways the Roman Catholic Church has been protestantized

If I were Protestant and read this thread, I’d be mostly impressed by the fact that everything wrong with the Church is referred to as “Protestant”,

for one thing: if you think this is offensive, maybe you ought to try being devoutly Catholic around Protestants… See how Catholic-friendly they are… Another thing: when i say protestantized i mean that the RCC is made to be more and more like a protestant service instead of a Catholic Mass… I don’t know why poeple read more into something than is there…

Before Vatican II, we had hoped that a Mass or two would be said in English on Sunday. That was all. Having the priest face those in attendance is fine with me. Other than that, I don’t think anyone envisoned all these other changes.

Did you all know that many Protestant discussions these days are about how “Catholic” the Protestant churches, are becoming?! There are quite a few preachers who are making a living denouncing the “Romanization” of the Protestant churches.

this thread serves a useful purpose – it is educating – i have wondered about the differences between traditional and new post-v2 way of liturgy. Because of the HUGE heresies in protestantism (which by the grace of God I am escaping) I am concerned that with protestantism seeping into the church by those of us who are coming to the church that there might be possibility of protestant heresies seeping in also.

so, we need to speak out against protestantism seeping in. we who are new coming into the church need to embrace the church in its traditionalism.

story – when i met with a priest in the parish i now am in back in 1985, he told me i was way to conservative – i had been exposed to mother angelica during that year during a 6 week period of illness – the parish at the time only had a rising Christ statue, no cross, no crucifix, no statues, now there is a crucifix, statues, and everything is much more traditional…as a previous baptist church pianist, i even find some of the liturgical music at this parish very secular – some of it sounds from broadway musical type music – i prefer the simpler hymns from the divine office
