Wow, merely 60% of the German population is Christian? Given that just a few decades ago most of Germany was Christian, have so many really apostatized or been raised outside any religion?
**Sadly enough, I must say: How right you are!
When I was in school, there where Catholics an Protestants only. When we had “Religion”, 50% of the kids went to this and 50% to that classroom. No others.
Heartbreaking enough of course, because all Jews had been deported to “Konzentrationslager” Concentration-Camps and nearly all of them had been murdered. 5 Mio Jews where murdered. (Many Catholics too though, but the 5 Mio where Jews only - in the area held by Nazi-Germany). Only Stalin murdered more of his people, but that’s no excuse at all.
The Apostolic Nuncio in Germany and Austria – the later Pope Pius XII. who condemned Hitlers Regime, was from 1936 on, not allowed to enter the seat of government, nor any Nazi-office.
In fact, I don’t really think, that Germany ever will recover from this hellish doing, and I often wrote; it looks as so if Germany would dissolve in a mixture of other nations, just as the rotten Rome did around 350 and had finally vanished around 400.
Adding the fact, that our Government is proud to be (for the historic reason of Hitler) the most tolerant in Europe, our wrong led “tolerance” disregards Christianity as simply “one of this religions” and it’s free to parents to either send their kids to the school subject “Religion” or not. To Moslems school subject “Religion” is given, whilst in Catholic or Protestant voluntary religion hours, you might find non, up to 5 pupils. In many classes we have 75% Moslems-Childen. If Christians don’t want to attend “Religion” in school, they have to attend the subject “Ethics” which has very little to do with Christianity. 90% do so.

That kills us.
But we have fiends of Poland. Catholics. They moan, that it’s very similar there. Hardly any foreigners though, but vanishing Christianity; though Poland was nearly 100% rom. Catholic before Communist times.
So – our today’s 60% Christians will soon change to the worse. Moslems are rapidly increasing, and so is the vastly increasing number of people who don’t believe anything at all.
(A problem world-wide. I was shocked to meet a lot of Atheists in Israel among Jews).
Many in Germany leave Church just to save Church-Tax.

More than one reason for a country to dispel.**
