"Name That Tune"...can anyone identify this entrance music?

Can anyone identify the wonderful music playing in the background of this entrance procession? This is the April 24, 2010 Solemn High Mass at the National Shrine in DC. I believe EWTN released a video of it, so maybe there are music credits on the video if anyone bought a copy? This looks like someone’s personal video posted after the event.

Wow! I have to say the dissonance of that really creeped me out. I am going to see if you get an answer and see if it has been used somewhere for that affect.

The dissonance and umpteen changes of key are what really grabbed me. I think most organ music is very nice, and like to listen on the radio or go to an organ concert from time to time, but it usually doesn’t make me go “wow!” like this piece did.

If no one answers, I’m tempted to order the DVD from EWTN just to see if the music is named.

Hmmm…

I don’t know…

It’s not something that I personally recognize.

Sometimes someone might improvise with a piece of music too, and add their own interpretation to it…

That’s always another possibility. 🙂

I love listening to a pipe organ being played.

The more stops being used, the better, for me! 😉 🤔

That was really interesting to listen to, to be sure. I enjoyed it. 🙂

0:50-1:36 sounds really nice. Everything before and after that sounds like a piece from the failed Broadway musical “Four Cats Walking Across the Keys of an Organ.”

Don’t recognize it off hand. Could be an improvisation for all I know.

Is it me or does something need a serious tuneup? Or maybe it was a child messing around or something? It almost sounds offensive like some unruly teenager is taking his revenge on the priest or something…

I thought Clare may be able to identify this. Any other ideas who might know? A CSI team? A forensic veterinarian?

🤣🤣🤣

I think we’d have to go waaaaaay down into the crypt for this one.

I know the name of this tune. ““you an’t paying me enough””

Cats. I’m telling you.

On April 24, 2010, the fifth anniversary of
the inauguration of Pope Benedict XVI as
Supreme Pontiff, a Pontifical Solemn High Mass
in the Extraordinary Form was celebrated in the
Great Upper Church of the Basilica of the
National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
Also known as the Tridentine or Traditional Latin
Mass, it was the first such Mass celebrated
according to the 1962 Missal at the High Altar of
the National Shrine in decades.
Bishop Edward Slattery of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was
the celebrant and homilist of the Mass, which,
with the exception of the homily, was offered
entirely in Latin.
More than 2500 of the faithful attended the
Mass, some who remembered the Traditional
Latin Mass which had been celebrated regularly
before 1970, and others for whom it was their
very first experience.
The Opening Prayer, known as The Collect,
expressed the intention of the Mass for the Holy
Father (as translated from Latin): “O God, the
Shepherd and Ruler of all Thy faithful people,
mercifully look upon Thy servant, Benedict,
whom Thou hast chosen as the chief Shepherd to
reside over Thy Church; grant him, we beseech
Thee, so to edify, both by word and example,
those over whom he hath charge, that he may
attain unto everlasting life, together with the flock
committed unto him.”
Sponsored by The Paulus Institute, whose mission
is to propagate the Sacred Liturgy of the Roman
Catholic Church, the Mass was broadcast live
worldwide by the Eternal Word Television
Network (EWTN).
DVD copies of the Pontifical Solemn High
Mass are available for purchase at the Basilica
in the National Shrine Shops or online at
www.nationalshrineshops.com.

Yeah, it’s looking like I’ll have to buy the DVD to figure out what this was. The posted video, as I noted, does not appear to be a DVD excerpt based on its quality (not great) and the date of the original video post; appears to be someone’s personal video that they shared.
