I had a cataract develop, very quickly, in my left eye brought on by trauma following the nasty auto accident I was in. The surgery was a breeze, and I got to play pirate with eye patch I had to wear for a brief period.
Thank you, Milt! You are so kind! I keep you and your family in my prayers, too.

Maybe my cataracts were caused by being hit by that truck. It did most of the damage from the knees down, but since it gave me tinnitus, I suppose it could have given me cataracts. too, especially since an accident caused yours. Glad to read the surgery is a breeze. I feel a bit apprehensive about someone dissolving the lens in my eye! Even if the are giving me a nice new clear one.

Had a little veggie chili tonight for a change.

The only weird, but not frightening, part of the cataract surgery was the moment dissolved the lens. It wasn’t totally black, but rather like a mini fireworks of various soft colors. A minute later the new lens was in and my eye refocused. Once I could remove the eye patch I was amazed at how clear things looked, especially how sharp colors were.

It was the airbag that got me in the face as well as my chest. It punched me out pretty good.
I had minor bouts of tinnitus before, but that wreck jacked up the volume full blast and lasted about eight months before it returned to a lower volume.

Wow…I’ve had tinnitus since I was a youngster, but didn’t know it until my grandfather described it…he said “water running through a pipe” [he was a fireman]…I’d say mine is more like a small air leak from a tire…it’s always there, but not noticeable unless I think about it…

Stopped at a restaurant on the way home from visiting my father…
Garlic-parmesan chicken wings…we split a bacon-cheddar burger and a Cuban sandwich, Cajun fries and onion rings…washed down with a good IPA…

I’m battling a head cold, so I just made some hot chocolate to drink. 🙂

I’ll use this emoji for coffee, and pretend that it’s hot chocolate! 😄 :coffee:

@Milt At least the new lens goes in fast. I’m relieved to hear that. Doctor told me the whole thing only takes about fifteen minutes! From eye drops to eye patch! LOL I’m looking at a rather pastel world right now, very Monet-like.

My tinnitus is roaring when I wake up, but calms down to a high-pitched hiss after about an hour, which I can forget. I awaken in a panic, usually after nightmares about that truck, but I calm in about an hour. I used to be such a laid back, relaxed person. I still am, but one with PTSD. 😱

@boldlygo Mine’s sort of like standing beside Niagara Falls when I first wake up, but after about an hour, it calms to a sound like steam escaping from a radiator. I can ignore that. Very occasionally, I’ll have complete silence. Bliss!

Hope you feel better soon @oldgraymare2.

I had some orange yogurt.

Still nothing. Have to make phone calls as soon as battery charges. One to surgeon’s office to make sure they got my clearance for surgery. Then phone call I dread because the person keeps me on the phone for an hour or two even if we’ve seen each other in the last 10 minutes.

Fettuccine Alfredo with lots and lots of cracked black pepper, green salad with apples, candied walnuts, lettuce, white balsamic vinaigrette, water 💦 💧, sweet cherries 🍒 and some dark chocolate 🍫 for dessert

A green smoothie. I’m on an “eating clean” diet for health. I’m already slim. 😁

I will never be accused of being slim…

My day off…I got to help with dinner…Char-grilled salmon, fresh corn-on-the-cob, grilled zucchini, fresh tomatoes, a fresh rye roll, and a good Canadian brew…a Creamsicle for dessert.

Baked corn. Alaskan codfish, rubbed with lime juice, salt, pepper, turmeric, and mustard powder, roasted in aluminum foil. Tasted better than expected.

Pineapple, banana, and yellow bell pepper smoothie.

This morning I woke up with the air conditioner on full blast and my right arm almost fell off my body and shattered on the floor. I made a pot of hot tea but the brand is labeled in Estonian and I have no idea what the flavor is.
