November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).

The goal is to write 50,000 words in the 30 days of November – an average of 1667 words per day.

Last year was my first time participating and I ended the month with 55,000 words but still had an unfinished story. 😦

This year I am planning like crazy (heading to a five-hour write-in in a few minutes) and hoping to write and finish the story I attempted last year. I never even reread what I wrote last year. 😂

If anyone else is participating, or if anyone here is interested in the idea, let’s support each other’s efforts.

Here’s the official website: National Novel Writing Month
There are forums on their site, even a Catholic group in the groups area. 👍

May God bless all of us who are seeking to honor Him with our gifts!

Amen :slightly_smiling_face:I hope you go well Gertie, keep us up to date if would like.:pray:t2:
And have fun!!

Thanks, Greenie. Looks like no one around here wants to play this year.

No worries. NaNo’s got their own Catholic group on their own forums.

I’d like to join in , but I (strong language alert,) hate time crunches 🤔
Besides , I’m writing my own novel at present in my head and I have all the time in the world.I Will start one day if I can figure out how to get going on paper …and actually applying myself …😁

I really wish they’d pick another month for NaNoWriMo. Like February. Nothing much happens in February—unlike November with Thanksgiving and holiday prep.

I was a Nanowrimo winner for a few years in a row, but then other things in life got in the way. It was a great experience at the time though, very good for motivation and I got such a buzz when I’d reached 50,000 words. I still have dreams of writing a novel, but not sure if I could write at such speed any more.

All the best to everyone doing Nano this year!

Now we know why you’re still single.

According to the NaNo folks, people 50 and older have the highest rate of winning. I think it’s because our kids are older, or we’re just more organized, or we are just more committed to getting away from reality and NaNo gives us an excuse. 😄

So I spent the weekend planning, wrote about 4,000 words just on the planning and sketches.

And then it all fell apart, when I realized I didn’t have nearly enough scenes, and my ending is really the beginning of the next book, and I don’t have a “next book” in my head.

😱

NaNoWriMo starts in three days and I’ve got NOTHING!!! 😭 😭 😭

I’m gonna need more coffee. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Hi guys!! I’m back!
I haven’t quite figured out how the new forum threads work, but here we go.
I too don’t have time (college is a time killer) BUT I wish ya’ll the best and I’m happy to supply ideas and emotional-support-pom-poms!

So glad to have you back! 😃

I am surprisingly up to 7249 words today – almost 600 words ahead of schedule.

Best of luck in your college studies!

Props to you!! I’m so glad for you!
Thank you, I’m going to need it XD

Well it’s day 17 and I’m about 7,000 words behind the target for this date. Still, it’s better than last year.

My story is coming along, even though mostly I’m just pantsing it (that is, flying by the seat of my pants). I think there’s enough that can be salvaged when I finally get around to editing. All in all, I’m just a lot more confident this time around, even if my story isn’t as strong.

It is a busy little community over there on the NaNoWriMo website these days, and I know I’ll miss it come December 1, when most everyone flees back to their own little writing corners of the world.

Hope everyone is well. @Hawkmaid7 I hope your midterms, papers, tests, and finals are going and continue to go well.

Thank you much! I’m on Thanksgiving Break for now, which is code for “cram like heck” XD Much luck and blessings to your efforts!

I am in the process of failing, but haven’t given up yet. Hope springs eternal.

When you did/do write, what genre? Do you want to be/have you been published?

Our region is doing a write-in at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science today. I’m hoping that being somewhere overflowing with cerebral stimulation will inspire me to have a huge word count for the day. Well, it could happen.

I just want my story not to be the worst thing ever written. Is that asking so much?

This is my mental picture of you doing NaNoWriMo

Nah, I look more like this… only older… with salt and pepper hair…

But I am making progress. 😃👍

I’m at 3,600 words so far today, and still working.
