Narcissistic Personality Disorder?

My X was diagnosed as a teen and his parents took him through different therapy. None helped him. They are very good at only showing what they want you to see and because of this you may feel as though you are the crazy one. If you are true to yourself and see things as they are you soon realize it is not you.

They are very damaging people especially when a child is born into the marriage. They want Mommy all to themselves and resent and see the child as stealing any affection from them.

If there are children involved in this relationship please do not leave them alone with this individual as they will not be kind to a child.
My mother was actually extremely upset that we had three children in short order and put a lot of pressure on us not to have more. She basically convinced my husband that my health was a serious risk, all because it meant less attention for her. The damage they can do is incredible and permanent. She expected my children to ask for nothing and stay out of her way when she was visiting.

I’ve seen him online. He seems very informative…then I learned he isn’t a pscychologist…just a narcissist himself. Which is ironic. He has dozens of videos, all of himself going on and on about narcissism.

He has similar talent as a fortune teller who touches on something vague but convinces his clients that he knows all about them. I thought Sam was authentic…until I realized everyone could be narcissist according to him.

He is curiously interesting…
He’s interesting but he subscribes to a school of psychology that’s a bit dodgy.

Very useful post.

Instructive in terms of what to expect from these sorts of people.

And how “extensive” their priorities are. All-encompassing demands.

And if things calm down, they just want you to be there in attendance, just in case they think of something … so you can instantly hop to it.

Thank you everyone who responded - esp. to those who have responded to my private message. I am too nervous to put up my own situation on here as I am scared my father will find out somehow. 😦

I’m new here but I wanted to say I can certainly relate and just wanted to add to the encouragement and prayers for you and your family. I ask God for His blessings and guidance for you.

I thought I’d have to just cope with my father all my life but finally realized that isn’t so. It’s been 2 years since I’ve had to deal with my narcissistic father and my nerves are still rattled, but I’m healing. He wouldn’t listen to me when I asked him to leave me alone but once my husband told him, a little over two years ago, it’s finally peaceful.

God bless you.
