Nashville Dominicans seem to be experiencing a vocations crisis… that is to say they don’t have room for all the vocations!

They are growing and rather orthodox! Anyone have any experiences to share?

The Nashville Dominicans taught me and both my children. They are wonderful and very happy women!!! I love them and feel so blessed to be working in one of the schools that they serve here in Nashville. They are very orthodox and wear the white habit, veil and 15 decade rosary.

They recently built a large addition to their motherhouse, the first since 1919, and refurbished the older buildings. The original building dates from the 1860’s. They now have much more room and a large chapel to hold everyone. They are definitely growing and have many enthusiastic young sisters.

This is my order! I am currently enrolled in one of the sisters’ schools and I have never been happier; everyone hears of “Dominican joy,” and these sisters really personify that! They are beautiful, holy women, and one really feels that the sisters care. Again, I’ve never been happier in my life than at school with these sisters.

My sister and I attended St. Cecilia’s Academy when it was a boarding school. It was a wonderful education and I cherish many memories of my days there. The historic building that was there during the Civil War was also the mother house for the Dominicans.

Awesome! That’s where I’m at right now, only it’s no longer a boarding school of course. Have you attended alumnae luncheons? I recently helped out with the last one as a “student ambassador.”
