I saw this link in the thread asking about Jesuit Orders for women. I was cruising so I opened it up. What an inspiring order!!! I enjoyed reading the vocation stories. It is cool that they seem to attract young women and are growing.

Very inspirational!

During a period of discernment, I saw the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia in light of a nostalgia that I did not experience.
This takes some explanation. As a young girl I thought seriously about becoming a nun, although it was for the wrong reason. It was because I wanted to teach. The desire to follow God was probably hidden behind my desire. It was not in the forefront.
The novices sleep in a dormitory room, only receiving their cells after vows. One of their statement is that it is about who you are and not what you do.
If I had known about this convent, I might have actually taken the step.
As for teaching, I just reached my MEd. Even that had to wait.

These wonderful sisters taught my DD in high school. I can’t say enough good things about them.

WOW- all I can say is wow.
And I haven’t even got past the introduction to the website.
😛

I went to the Cathedral for the Saturday evening Mass today, and found that it was a celebration of the jubilees of a large number of religious from various orders all over the archdiocese. The place was filled with ladies with simple short haircuts wearing various print skirts, pastel jackets and sensible shoes. Well, except for the one in a black suit, black veil with a white edge and high heeled, pointy-toed slingback pumps. 🤷

AND THEN there were the Nashville Dominicans. Three of them, in full habit, looking like beautiful brides of Christ. They were the (possibly only) ones who genuflected when they passed in front of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. And they were the (possibly only) ones who knelt to pray after receiving Holy Communion.

Gotta love the Nashville Dominicans! 😃
