good petition but do these things actually have an impact on the government?

Well, if a petition reaches more than 25,000 signatures, it is supposed to garner a response from the White House. In this case, it would likely be some canned response about respecting women’s freedom, etc., etc.

The impact of these petitions is primarily one of raising awareness.

I wish the petition was worded a little better and with less grammatical errors. We don’t do ourselves any favors by coming across as sloppy.

The petition was started a month and a half ago and it only has 43 signatures so far. I’d say it hasn’t made the rounds quite yet. :o

it seems like trying to contact senators representatives etc. is pointless now of days, politicians are so intrenched in party policies that even if 95% of their constituents are against a view they would still side with the 5% if the 5% represents their party policy. (obama care is an example of this)

I know how you feel. Anytime I have contacted my state’s Senator, I just get a canned form response back that basically says, “Thanks for writing and this is why I’m right and you’re wrong,” But it’s crafted in very palatable political-speak, of course. 😛

I don’t know that I’ve read of an instance where a politiician has changed his/her voting on an issue in response to voter pushback – at least not when it comes to the issues like abortion. Our real opportunity to make our voice hear to our elected representatives is in the voting booth.

oh I know its in the voting booth but the way our two party system is set up we aren’t going to be able to do much without some fundamental change in our country.

while I hope I’m dead wrong, I fear that there is a change coming in the republican party that will drop certain social issues which they believe is causing them to lose elections. It seems after every time there is a major GOP defeat I hear we need to move away from being socially conservative.

in would if enough people signed it - power in numbers - the question is are you going to “walk the walk” or just “talk the talk”? - if all the people who say they are pro life actually backed up their words with action abortion would cease to exist.REMEMBER THAT GOD WILL HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU DO AND DON’T DO - NOT SIGNING THE PETITION IS EMPOWERING EVIL - YOU ARE SHOWING GOD YOU DON’T CARE - DON’T RATIONALIZE THE PROBLEM - ACT ON IT IN A CHRISTIAN WAY.

Pax Christi!

FEWER grammatical errors. 😉

God bless.

If the White House petition gets over 100,000 signatures the President is supposed to answer it, but is not required to do anything. The only way that RTL is going to get rid of Abortion in America is by a Constitutional amendment.

That may or may not be true but I tell you - reading these comments makes me sick - people can find so many excuses and rationalizations for not signing - what’s the problem? you don’t have two minutes? People take the time to write what’s wrong with it or that these things don’t do any good - WHAT DO YOU THINK GOD HAS TO SAY ABOUT YOUR COMMENTS? - I CAN TELL YOU ONE THING - SATAN IS SURE SMILING.

I’m not rationalizing or excusing, just trying to be honest. 🤷

When you switch to all caps and say things like “Satan is smiling” if someone does not sign, I don’t think you’re going to encourage many people to sign the petition.

People should not need to be encouraged - it’s you Christian Duty to stop abortion - Do you think God wants you to sign this or not and if not why?
