drdude,
I too am praying that the Holy Spirit will guide you to the truth. May God Bless you on your journey.šŸ™‚

I would like to apologize to all for all any attacks that I may have made on this forum as I was just stuck in that typical SDA role.
Dude, I commend you for your humility and willingness to seek the truth.
I will only rely on the Holy Scripture
Are you sure on this? Sola scriptura cannot be practiced.
Are any of you willing to continue studies based on Scripture alone
I’m willing to see if that can be done.
and see what is revealed to us and put aside any denominational traditions.
The traditions we should hold to are Apostolic Tradition. We should only hold to the Apostles’ interpretation of scripture (Galatians 1:9).

Wow, I came on here thinking I can put some to the test, in the end I put myself to the test.
Good for you… I did the same thing while I was studying… I wanted to see what I really could logically defend from scripture… it helped me greatly in my search for truth… I commend you!

God Bless.
As a Catholic, this can be hard… because we follow scripture as completely as possible… since scripture teaches that we should obey tradition, it is hard for us to separate tradition from scripture… for tradition is handed to us for consideration by scripture. Does that make any sense?

In my past, I believed that I could follow scripture without tradition, but the more I studied I found that I could not follow or study scripture without tradition, because scripture its self commands us to understand and obey tradition.

After studying the Bible over and over and praying to God for the Holy Spirit to please guide me. I think I am beginning to see a different light. I am beginning to question the Sabbath as a requirment for salvation. I am not all there yet, but I believe the Holy Spirit is slowly starting to reveal more to me as I continue to study the scripture. I definately don’t believe that God will punish us for eating Pork and some other SDA traditions.

I would like to apologize to all for all any attacks that I may have made on this forum as I was just stuck in that typical SDA role. I am not going to say that SDA is totally wrong on some issues, but I’m not sure if they are the remnant church as they claim. Sorry Catholic members but I still disagree with many of your doctrines as well. But I do not wish to argue with anyone based on what Churches say. I will only rely on the Holy Scripture and as always I will look at what other denominations believe and put them to the test using the scripture.

DrDude,

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

Point:

Do not let yourself be decieved.

If you love Him keep His commandments.

If you don’t then you are basically saying you don’t.

If you don’t then how can you enter the gates?

Yes I do love him. Keep his commandments does not say keep the 10 commandments. God has commanded many things throughout the bible. God has also commanded 613 laws that Moses wrote. I am not going to go into a deep study now but I will come back another time and post. You must read Galatians and keep your mind open to the Holy Spirit and a weight will be lifted off your heart. If we repent and put our trust in Jesus we are of Abraham heirs according to the promise. Abraham had faith in God and it was credited to him as rightiousness. He didn’t have a law (tutor). The law was added because of transgressions. We who have faith are no longer under a tutor.

I like to note that I am not being deceived by anyone, I was when I followed SDA doctrine without testing it thoroughly against scripture. I prayed everyday to God to please reveal the truth to me. And one day it happened I was reading Galatians and the truth was revealed. Many other scriptures were opened before me over time. I now believe there is nothing we can do to be saved, it is a gift from God, the gift of Jesus Christ and his Grace towards us. Keeping the Sabbath will not save me, nor will keeping Sunday. There is no work except the Grace of Christ that will save me. Keeping the Sabbath was a burden even though I love God. I see it is a burden for many of my SDA family and friends, they may not say it out right but it shows. I commune with God everyday and I read the Bible everyday, I feel more connected with God everyday than I did on Sabbath. There are many other issues that SDA doctrine teach that are not biblical. Jesus is the scapegoat not Satan. Jesus took on our sin at the cross. The Holy Spirit is God’s seal in the NT.

Anyway I’ll post more some other day, I’m pretty busy at work right now.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for your kind words and forgiveness.

God Bless.

I still mourn over the those who are within the SDA Body, I pray that one day they will come back to The Church, St. Peter Established through the Guidance of Christ.

@drdude

Well, you have made your decision.

Next step, sign up for Roman Catholicism…

Good luck!

Remember what you have said here after the Sunday Law has been passed into law.

That goes for all of you!

Violet I honestly appreciate your prayers but I already am in the church and I am quite happy about it, so there is no need (nor will there ever be) for me to ā€œcome backā€ šŸ˜‰

Shabbat Shalom!

Goitalone, you keep forgetting that the anti-christ will make a peace pact with the nation of Israel, so a Sunday Law is not a reality. A Sabbath Law is more in line with the anti-christ and his peace pact with Israel. And possibly the militant muslim nation will the enforcers of the Sabbath Law. You worship God on any day other than the Sabbath, you are dead.

Check this out. Ellen White says that the Sabbath is the Seal of God for us Christians right? She quotes OT verses which state that the Sabbath was a sign between God and the Jews right? Well show me in the NT that the Sabbath is the seal of God for the New Covenant children of God? You can’t do it… Not only that but it totally contradicts what God seals us with as stated 3 times in the NT.

2Co 1:20 For as many promises as are of God, in Him they are yes, and in Him are Amen, for glory to God through us.
2Co 1:21 But He confirming us and anointing us with you in Christ is God,
2Co 1:22 even He having sealed us, and having given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

Eph 1:12 for us to be to the praise of His glory, the ones who had previously trusted in Christ;
Eph 1:13 in whom also you, hearing the Word of Truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also believing you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 who is an earnest of our inheritance, to the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

Eph 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed to the day of redemption.

So as we can see as the Bible shows. Those who have the Seal of God the Holy Spirit, and those who have the mark of the beast no Holy Spirit. We need the Holy Spirit as we cannot stop sinning on our own. That’s why the Law was the ministry of death, whereas the Spirit is the ministry of glory!

2Co 3:7 But if the ministry of death having been engraved in letters in stone was with glory, so as that the sons of Israel could not gaze into ā€œthe face of Mosesā€ because of the glory of his face, which was to cease, Ex. 34:34
2Co 3:8 how much rather the ministry of the Spirit will be in glory!

2Co 3:13 And not as ā€œMoses, who put a veil over his face,ā€ for the sons of Israel not to gaze at the end of the thing being done away. Ex. 34:35
2Co 3:14 But their thoughts were hardened, for until the present time the same veil remains on the reading of the Old Covenant, not being unveiled, that it is being done away in Christ.
2Co 3:15 But until today, when Moses is being read, a veil lies on their heart.
2Co 3:16 But whenever it turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Ex. 34:34
2Co 3:17 And the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2Co 3:18 But we all with our face having been unveiled, having beheld the glory of the Lord in a mirror, are being changed into the same image from glory to glory, as from the Lord Spirit.

When I was an SDA believer there was a veil over my heart. Reading the NT, especially Paul’s letters made no sense when I tried to seperate the 10 Commandments from the rest of the Law. It’s impossible. Once God revealed the truth His gift in Jesus Christ that veil was removed and I was no longer in bondage.

So where are you at? Where do you think God is leading you?

Dear Drdude,

I recommend reading the following thread if you have the chance.
forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=155025

I started the thread because I could not understand how the Adventist Church could permit abortion, while claiming to obey the Lord`s commandment ā€œThou shall not kill.ā€ I learned a lot from that thread.

Last week I was reading Romans, and it really highlighted to me, what you wrote about above, about not being in bondage. I find that when you take the time to read Romans in one sitting, it is particularly true.

I will keep you, and everyone here at CAF, in my prayers.

Sincerely,

Maria1212

My friend, if you believe a ā€œsunday lawā€ is coming, you’ll never reach it, simply on the basis of Rev 13, which excludes your prophetic interpretation.

Adventists have been waiting for it for 150 years…

…and on they will wait until they decided that they have yet another prophecy to reinterpret.

This thread has reached it’s post limit, and is now closed. Thanks for all who have participated. Please feel free to open a new thread to continue the discussion.
