The US fought a war because they were crying over having to pay for the soldiers that were garrisoned to protect colonists from the Indians as well as pay for the war they started by encroaching on French territorial claims.

If there was ever a lie told about the cause of a war it was the American Revolution. Bunch of ungrateful colonials who wanted to have their cake and eat it too.
