Done both work and stay at home. It takes less time then the Pill or the condoms, because for one you don’t need to drive to the pharmacy. It just becomes apart of your routine, like brushing your teeth. I think the gist of the thread is that women claim, they have no time to learn NFP. But many women will take the time to see an OB, or even make return visits to their OB if the contraception isn’t that great, either nausea or lost of sex drive. Think about all the women who had to reutrn to the OB, because the the recall of the patch. Many women after six months try a different brand of the Pill or even complications with a more permanent form of ABC like an IUD because of the side effects, and OBs admit it is a trial and error situation to see what type of contraception works.

I do all the charting, and decision making.

All she does is put a thermometer under her tounge in the morning and tell me her fertility signs at night.

The man should do all the rest, in my opinion.

Todd,
Out of curiosity, what “decisions” do you make? If you’re talking about making the decisions as to whether you should “try” for a baby or not, shouldn’t that be a decision you make with your wife after praying together about it?

I am a sahm that uses ecological breastfeeding to acheive 2-3 year spacing. 🙂 I guess you can really only do this if you are a sahm since you can’t pump or use a bottle.

I think he meant whether or not they should have sex on a certain day or not. :o

Yep, we are avoiding pregnancy right now.

Since I do all the charting.
Since I read the book cover to cover.
Since I know all “the rules”.

I get to do all the interpretation.

What I am trying to say is that often it is said that the wife gets to says “yes” or “no” to marital relations.

Thus the husband is at the will of his wife. Men like to complain about this.

I have short circuited this idea since I’m the one that gets to say
" not tonight, honey we are in Phase 2 "

— Incidentally , we use a digital thermometer it doesn’t take more than 2 mins to take the temp and chart it.

Did you take a NFP course or did you read books and websites about it?
I took a course, and I work with an instructor of the Creighton Method. This is the method taught in my diocese. If there aren’t Creighton instructors near you, I believe there are some that will try and work with you long distance.

While ecological breastfeeding CAN be a major and very important part of NFP… NFP is also more than ecological breastfeeding, so it might be a little mis-leading to infer that a person must be a SAHM to do NFP.

I work full-time and so does my husband (works nights/weekends to care for the kiddos while I’m at work) and we have used NFP for a few years now. It’s very easy and doesn’t take much time. We use STM taught by CCL and I use a Pro-Life NFP-Only physician and he is very helpful as well.

I went back to work full time when my little one was only two months old. It was imperative that I return as my husband was completely out of work at the time. So I pumped at school, and because my milk supply was never very good, we also used formula. Even with all that, I still remained infertile until after my son’s first birthday. NFP and breastfeeding is so totally possible for women working outside the home!👍

Oh, I definitely agree!!! I BF’d, too…and though I remained infertile while I did it, my symptoms were harder to read due to pumping. Anyway, I really just meant that it is ALSO possible to do the BF’ing and NFP or just NFP while working full time!

Now that I’m posting this, I’m beginning to think we were saying the same thing!

Anyway…NFP is awesome no matter WHAT you do…SAHM or Working Mother! 👍
