Most people who genuinely try to understand what contemporaries think about the physical universe suffered these tortured explanations of 4 or more dimensions which they are supposed to grasp as mathematicians assure them how real they are and start namedropping Newton and Einstein .If that error has been corrected today, then it is purely a matter of medieval history, which I am not all that interested in. As I mentioned in a previous thread, the oldest book I read in all my physics study was Dirac’s classic QM text from the 1930’s. Dirac made a mistake by assuming that anti-electrons were holes in a universal sea of negative energy particles. But I don’t hate the guy because of his mistake.
Few can get past the relativistic nonsense but it is extremely rare to come across those who are capable of dealing with Newtonian ambiguities and especially the focus of our attension here. The real astronomical insights were diluted by Newton’s application of terrestial ballistics to planetary motion one of which is a totally screwed up version of axial and orbital motion of the Earth.
As a variation of Arianism which dilutes Catholic views on the Trinity,Newton’s views on astronomical matters are about par for the course, not just inferior but so artificial that there is no room left to move.
Isaac is just a sad example of not testing the Spirits to see if they come from God and being led down the garden path of false guesses both in his theological and astronomical outlook.

Kepler may be somewhat over the top with the position of astronomers but ultimately that the Universe says ‘Behold’ to the Christian mind, not because we understand it with our minds but that we participate in the great motions of the Earth on its axis, around the Sun,around the galactic axis and whatever other motions there may be for us to discover.
You may feel that you can choose and find the mathematics for a homocentric/relativistic 'frame of reference view otherwise known as ‘every valid point is the center of the universe’ and I will show you the misery of a homocentric atheist who sees no purpose in life or the greater life encopmpassing it.
“I was merely thinking God’s thoughts after him. Since we astronomers are priests of the highest God in regard to the book of nature,” wrote Kepler, “it benefits us to be thoughtful, not of the glory of our minds, but rather, above all else, of the glory of God.”
