Welp, it ain’t open. I suspect a cash grab by Longwood who is probably hurting financially from being forced to close during the spring due to COVID shutdown here. Pushing everyone to buy tickets when the thing likely won’t open for a couple more days. I reckon I’ll go anyway and see the closed-up flower since I’m only about 10 miles away, then try to get another ticket when I see it actually starting to bloom on the cam.

My night-blooming cereus had 7 blooms the other morning. This photo is from last May when I had another large bloom. I’ve known them to bloom before but I never noticed them because I was too busy.

So now when I need a password or username I use the scientific names of plants.

Who could hack Cereus cochabambensis

I was doing a crossword puzzle with my wife and one answer was “neap” tide. I had to look it up. It is a mild tide just after the first and third quarter moon. At 6 am and 6 pm. Third quarter happens to be tomorrow. If you are by the ocean you can check it out.

The corpse flower I posted about last week finally burst into bloom this evening. I couldn’t rush down and see it tonight as I was attending an Archdiocesan rosary meetup, so I will be going tomorrow afternoon to look at it. Looks like Grand Central Station down there tonight anyway with everyone rushing up to take their selfie and leave.

It’s probably a very good thing they have their masks on 😀
Here’s a tawny frogmouth bird I picked up off the road last night,it was too badly injured and didn’t survive.During the day they keep very still and blend in,looking like part of a branch .It isn’t of the owl family.

Oh, I have no skills. I am lucky if they live. Trimming and styling require artistry I do not have. I do try to practice a bit on boxwood and juniper. But I am not very good.

We’ve had crazy fires on the mountain next to the city where I live. The summers monsoons have started. This video is of one the first flash floods coming down from the burn area. Amazing, but kind of sad as well.

I guess it’s probably a fairly natural phenomenon ,and will provide habitat somewhere down the line, and mulch and regrowth ?

Sounds like it might have been the same crossword puzzle I was working, as that answer appeared in mine, as well.

What I like about Nature is how Flamingos get their color. It shows one side of many beautiful Colors in the world.
