Not really. We dream in snippets of what our head has seen, heard, etc while our eyes were open.

As an example, those born blind do not have visual dreams. To dream visually, it is necessary to have really seen.

Sure, we can have dreams where we can fly, etc, because our head puts those sensory snippets together (at a time when we have almost no muscle tone). Our gray cells are great at editing snippets of life together.

Gen 1:26-27 tells us that God freely choose to make humanity in His OWN Image

John 4:23-24 tells us that God “IS SPIRIT”

So how can we reconcile these seemingly differences?

God has gifted each human soul [& ONLY humanity] with a mind, intellect and freewill. These make humanity rational. These gifts are also LIKE OUR GOD Spiritual and eternal; and GOD attaches them permanently to each human soul.

I have come to term this “OUR SPIRITUAL OTHER SELF”
As our dead bodies decay [from dust to dust] it is our ever rational SOULS that meet God "face to face ’ [Actually intuitively …until the End Times & and then perfected bodies are reunited with our souls for eternity.

So a Soul in heaven know where they are and who else is there; it also knows GOD and desires to give God His Just Glorification and Divine Worship.

we experience eternal Joy, Peace & Love [in heaven]

Souls in hell experience undescribable loneliness, rejection, intense unremtted pain and suffering

Its OUR choice

How is it that materialism has taken over? I don’t get it.

Clearly dreams are of the mind, organizing experience, be it animal or human.
Of course a brain is required because we are speaking about what occurs to creatures with bodies and souls.

Again, the brain no more generates dreams as it does this monitor.
We are relational beings as animals are instinctive, and the brain is what reacts to the world about it, to be experienced by a soul.
That soul has a structure, archetypal in human beings, which organizes its experiences, speaking to itself in a language that it knows, a language that requires a brain as print needs paper.
 
In ALL of Creation only HUMANITY emulates our God: Gen 1:26–27 vrs John 4:23-24

ONLY HUmanity is RATIONAL, which requires a mind, intellect & a FREEWILL which LIKE GOD are Spiritual Realities and the way humanity ALONE emulates our God.

Human Souls [an exclusive] have attached to them our minds, intellects and freewill’'s so that the HUMAN SOUL in heaven or hell is RATIONAL; can experience Joy & pain; is aware of where they are and WHY; having freely chosen to Love God or to HATE God by our life choices.

So the Souls in heaven experience Eternal Joy & happiness while being aware of God’s Presence as well as knowing who else is in heaven that they know; while all the wile Praising, thanking and Glorifying God.

Souls in hell are in eternal pain, extreme loneliness, and feel intense rejection. .
