How do you personally handle being around people who have angry moods in the work place or at home? People who arn’t going to share what’s bugging them but let their bad mood permeate the day.
I’m not in that situation at present and by nature I’m kind of a peace maker but it often leaves me feeling drained 🙂 (phlegmatic)

people who have angry moods in the work place
As difficult as it can sometimes be, my first line of defense is to love them, love them, and love them some more. This can involve anything from a kind word, a physical act of service, or just a prayer. It’s taken 61 years to get here and I fail often. But when I am successful it not only defuses awkward and unpleasant situations but gets me home without being filled with anger and bitterness myself.

At work, I try to avoid them. If they start giving me trouble I respond in escalating levels of curtness. Occasionally, I have to challenge them publicly.

That’s a very good attitude to have,I can find it a fine line between that and them being dominating at times though,I have to work on not letting their mood affect me personally somehow.

Be patient. Suffer such people in silence. Because if you talk back, it will make matters worse.

  1. Be kind. Actually, be super nice to them.
  2. Detach. Their bad mood, if it’s chronic, is not your problem to solve. It’s also not your job to cheer them up if they’ve decided they want to be a grump that day.
Just be very nice, get them what they need from a work standpoint, and distance yourself from them otherwise so you don’t get weighed down by their negativity.

Angrily rant about them when you get home and stay quiet when around them (choleric-melancholic). 😜

I do sadly do that, but I do try to be polite when speaking with them. I would like to think I don’t go out of my way to inconvenience them, I still try to help as best as I can.

that’s pretty much the key. usually, it’s not personal.

have to deal with it all the time too, with work and family memebers…

took me a while to finally figure it out, but typically, their bad mood has nothing to do with me, so I just try to deal with the things I have to do in a day and move on.

it’s obviously ina ppropriate behaviour to take out your bad mood on other people, but we can’t really control what others do

I handle them the way I would like to be handled in the rare event I am in a bad mood. I give them wide berth and let them work through it. Everyone has a bad moment every now and then. If it continuously becomes a problem, pray for them and if appropriate address it with them when they are in a better spot.

Don’t navigate their moods at all. Be your gracious self at all times. Pray to God to help you be yourself even when others try to push you oitside your own self in a bad way.
Find some dismissive excuse for them - not very charitable but it works for your sanity - tell yourself they do not know any better or are able to do any better or even contemplate their behavior as maybe being less meaningful than what you read into it.
