This is terrible! I’m in San Diego and am greatly saddened by this. This is a cost-cutting move? Why are other faiths allowed to continue then?

If it’s about money, Catholic military could band together and chip in money to pay for this. I don’t know how it works, because I’m not military, but it’s just an idea.

Maybe they can go to other places for Mass. I’d like to know more. As the article alludes to, perhaps they can find alternatives, options to the dilemma. BTW, a picture of a beautiful little chapel at the link.

There are way more Protestant chaplains than Catholic in the military. The Archdiocese of the Armed Forces is, like everyone else, short of priests.

What most places do if they don’t have a Catholic chaplain is pay for a local priest, usually retired, to come say Mass on the base. That’s what by this is disproportionately affecting Catholics; we’re the faith most often using contracted clergy.
