NBC shows exploit Oakland’s Ghost Ship tragedy

This is sad but really par for the course when it comes to Dick Wolf’s shows. I actually stopped watching Law and Order because of some episodes that were obviously based on real life cases, but had changed the facts enough to promote a certain POV.

I also recall in the 1980s and 1990s, that any notorious crime or disaster was sure to eventually result in a spate of made-for-TV movies within the year. The Amy Fisher case even was fodder for 3 different TV movies; one based on Amy’s claims, one based on the Buttafuoco’s claims, and one that was supposedly “objective”.

Not to mention all the OJ nostalgia last year, including a miniseries and some weird documentaries that actually claimed OJ was innocent. I didn’t watch any of them, I was all OJ’d out from the first go-around.
 
I admit to owning In the Line of Duty: Ambush in Waco on DVD.
