NBC TV show "Revelations"

I just watched “Revelations” on nbc and im wondering what everyone else thinks about: content, scripture, erroneous parts…etc
 
Well I thought it odd that they think that any religious organization would send a nun to study these phenomena. I have a feeling that they would send priests, not brothers or sisters.

The other thing I actually found a tad bit offensive was that God was supposedly talking through a blasphemous imodest girl who’s parents only sent her to church as a punishment.

Good entertainment. Kinda creepy about how the nun mentioned some buddhism. And it’s also interesting how the nun is pretty. Now, that is not to say that there are no nuns who are pretty, but it seems that it if they had a “hot” nun, people might watch it.
 
Having not watched the show, but seeing the trailers, it amuses me to see these religious end of the world type movies/shows where they race to prevent the apocolypse. If God really wanted to end the world, it would happen. On the other hand, a movie like Armageddon at least seems a bit more possible to save the world because you’re not fighting a divine power****.

Some of the acting is abysmal. Bill Pullman has one expression: smirk. The storyline is implausible. Nothing about the characters or story pulled me in.

If you want a good story, ***read ** * Revelation.

I don’t plan to watch any more of the miniseries. That was one hour of my life I’ll never get back…

They had a small part about this show on Dateline last night. Before this show was shown. I didn’t watch all of last night’s part, but I found it sort of interesting. As was said on Dateline, this wasn’t meant to be all fact. And as far as sending a nun to check into all of this, I think the show supported her having the education to do so. Sure, a priest would probably actuall be sent instead of a nun, but would it make as nice a story? :twocents:
 
I saw some of the show last night, too, and some of it bothered me because of what it implies about popular conceptions of faith. But one of the first miracles they showed, a shadow of a giant crucifix, gave my wife goosebumps! Especially when the shadow of Christ’s head moved as if it was looking at you. It made me realize how privileged are those who have seen miracles!
 
I found it odd that the priest said “In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Ghost”. I don’t know about you but I haven’t heard that since I was a kid in pre-VII times.
