What I would hope that this show has done is make American parents aware of the internet and the dangers of allowing their children to hole up in their rooms and chat online for hours a day. These creeps are out there trolling, just waiting to find an innocent child who doesn’t know enough not to engage in conversation with them.

While I’m glad that people are getting caught and taken off the streets, there’s something…voyeuristic about the whole thing to me. Its the same reason that I can’t bring myself to watch something like Cops. Justice shouldn’t be entertainment.

Honestly, what kind of person doesn’t wanna see the bad guy busted? The guys they catch on these shows are sick, bona fide sex freaks. I say lock 'em up and give 'em the chair, the noose, or at the very least never let them see polite society again till they go through some serious rehab.

That’s a good point. News organisations deal with stories like these in matter-of-fact ways. Though, they do blur the line between that and sensationalism – To Catch a Predator I guess is the product of what you have when news turns into sensationalistic entertainment. It makes the line hard to define and practically impossible to enforce.
