Did your teams get in? Some of mine did. One of my alma maters, Michigan State, is playing Valparaiso on Thursday. Minnesota got in too, playing UCLA on Friday. My new job doesn’t start until next month so I have time to watch the tournament.

im rooting for INDIANA or GONZAGA to become the national champs!

I just filled out a bracket with Indiana cutting the nets down. I don’t follow the regular season as the tournment makes the regular season meaningless, I don’t know if Gonzaga is good enough to win it all. I’d be curious to see what their RPI is. Then again, the west region isn’t as loaded as say the Midwest.

The Louisville Cardinals got in as #1 overall - and as I suggested in another thread, in light of the conclave of Cardinals - it is the right thing for a Catholic to do to root for Louisville. 🙂

I am rooting for Indiana because they are in the Big Ten and my sister graduated from there. I have seen some of their games and they are good (with the exception of their last game in the Big Ten tournament). I am not doing brackets though.

The UConn players are (hopefully) spending this time studying.

SLU or NC State! (We have graduates from both in our family.)

The SLU Billiken is the cutest mascot!

The Holy Father chimes in with his Final Four picks, he’s no fan of Creighton or Notre Dame.

My daughter and SIL met at, and graduated from, Indiana, so I will be rooting for them (as my Boston College Eagles are still a year or two away from the tournament.) I would love to see the Hoosiers win it all, but they have had a couple of bad games that make me wonder.

Go SLU & Mizzou! Too bad they’re in the same region!

BTW - love that BLUE hair Cody! 👍

Test run tonight for Thursday-Sunday for me. Will have 2 TV’s going, along with my phone and PC. I get a better connection and picture on my phone via the NCAA March Madness App than I do my 4 year old computer

It’s my own sports bar and grill were the food and booze is a heckuva lot cheaper

I’m watching the 1st 1st round game. I just want to see who wins the play-in games. The real action will start Thursday. Michigan State plays in the first game. I have an errand to run Thursday morning but will be home.

I hope SLU goes far. My DD’s two best friends went there and i guess it really is my hometown team. It would be great to have them do well.

How are your teams doing? I saw a cliffhanger between St. Mary’s and Memphis and am watching another between Southern and Gonzaga.

My alma mater, Wright State, got into one of the new upstart postseason tournaments, the CBI. Last night they beat Tulsa for their first Division I postseason win ever (in 25 years). They will host the Richmond Spiders on Monday night. GO RAIDERS!!!

As a UConn fan I’m boycotting this years tournament
The NCAA after punishing us two scholarships for a below required APR score in 2008-2009. Impletmented a new policy in 2011 barring any school whose 3 year average was below a minimum. Even tough we were incomplience all the years since.
APR has 0 to do with graduation. The culprit id kids that tranfer
with GPA less than 2.6
The president of the NCAA is a former UConn provost
Who didn’t get the president job.
Retroactive adaptstion of punitive measures and double jeprody should strike any decent human as unfair.
There is not one kid on this team who was there in 2008.
The ironic part is The NCAA refused to act when other school had fake classes for basketball players
We in essence were punished twice for being honest.
UConn is a top 20 Acedemic Public University
Before you cheap shot somebody get the facts

I do not follow sports. Instead I’m learning Bayesian statistics to predict games. And not knowing much yet about Bayesian statistics, I went with a (relatively) simple formula where the probability of a team winning is calculated as Beta(θ|wins+1,losses+1). I take a random probability from that distribution for each team, find the difference, and average 100 trials to predict each game.

I have Gonzaga beating Kansas for the championship.

On a more athletic note, I’m disappointed not to see UNL in this. But then again, I don’t follow sports much so I don’t know if that’s even possible 🤷 (There’s a reason I use stats to make brackets)
