My alma mater, Wright State, got into one of the new upstart postseason tournaments, the CBI. Last night they beat Tulsa for their first Division I postseason win ever (in 25 years). They will host the Richmond Spiders on Monday night. GO RAIDERS!!!
That’s great! One of my alma maters, Purdue, is in it also. I am glad there is another tournament so more teams can play in the postseason.

My bracket for the championship final two is Gonzaga and Georgetown. I figure that with Pope Francis I, this might be the year of the Jesuit!

Sorry about Georgetown, but what a thrill for the new team on the block! Great action on the court.

The Butler Bulldogs usually make it into the dance (they did again this year), and about half the time they make it into the Sweet Sixteen (we’ll see after today’s game), but the two years in a row that they made it to the final, they really embarrassed themselves and their fans. I don’t see them getting any farther than the S16, but we’ll see.

Meanwhile . . . Go Hoosiers!!!

Georgetown got beat soundly. So did Notre Dame. Big East took some big hits. Marquette BARELY escaped Davidson.

Um, as I recall, the first year Butler made it to the championship game, they came thisclose to upsetting Duke. I’d hardly call that an embarrassment. Now the following year, they didn’t do so well against UConn…

Good showing today for the B1G. As big of a sports junkie that I am, this is probably the 2nd or 3rd year that I haven’t even bothered filling out a bracket

I watched both games. The first one was a lot closer than the second (which has been described as the worst final since Snookie took calculus), but even so, there was plenty in the first one to be embarrassed about.

Well, the Bulldogs are out, so my Butler sweatshirt has been retired until next year.

On the other hand . . .

GO HOOSIERS!!!

I’m glad the Big Ten has 4 teams in the Sweet 16, although I wish MN had won their game.

How about Florida Gulf Coast?!

Very crazy tournament so far.

My Boston College Eagles are still a year or so away from getting back into the Dance, but my daughter and SIL both graduated from Indiana, so I am having fun rooting for them. I don’t think they’ll take it all this year, though… too many close calls, including yesterday against Temple.

Really not sure who’ll win it all… possibly L’ville or Kansas.

Georgetown, but especially Gonzaga (champs) destroyed my bracket. Ouch!

I’m pulling for LaSalle from here on out, but love what Florida Gulf Coast is doing, too!

Tubby Smith is out at Minnesota so we’re waiting to see who they choose as the next coach. I hope it’s someone good. Shaka Smith has been mentioned as our athletic director, Norwood Teague, is from VCU.

FGC was amazing, looking like they were having so much fun out there. And I guess the Big Ten are the SEC of basketball 😃

If I was a betting man, i’d lay money on that happening.

My Wright State Raiders have won two in a row in the CBI tournament. 👍 They beat the Richmond Spiders 57-51 last night.

Tomorrow night, they host Santa Clara in the semifinals. :ballspin:

Yes, I got home from work last night (Monday) and spent the evening watching video, watching .gifs, and ready everything I could about them. Just a fun team playing a fun style of hoops.

That’s why i’m not a betting man

The Shaka Smart sweepstakes is over, and, once again, the winner is Virginia Commonwealth University.
Despite garnering interest from high-major basketball programs – including UCLA and Minnesota – Smart has agreed to a contract extension at VCU, the school confirmed Wednesday night.

KU final 4, after that who knows. I’d say all the way, but they have laid a couple eggs this season (loss to Big 12 bottem dweller TCU - and a beating at that) to say national champions.

Surprised to see Wichita State in the Sweet 16, but that ride might be over.
