I’ll miss a few of the games today as I’m going to a Maundy Thursday service, but I plan to watch when I get back. I am torn in the Arizona-Ohio State game, as I went to Arizona for a while and Ohio State is in the Big Ten. I am definitely rooting for Indiana tonight.

Yes, we lost out on Shaka Smart, but there are a few people being talked about as possible candidates for the Minnesota coaching vacancy. startribune.com

I just got home from Mass myself, intime to see the end of the Arizona/The Ohio St. University game.

It would be a massive kick to the stones of Iowa St. fan’s if Hoiberg took the Minnestoa job.

I just heard that MN is considering Hoiberg. I had not heard of him before. Our paper is reporting that Texas Tech may be considering Tubby Smith.

It looks like Ohio State is going to win this game. Marquette beat Miami.

Well played Hoiberg, well played. My Twitter feed is blowing up with news of a 10 year, $20 million contract extension to stay at Iowa St.

Heard that too.

Indiana is out. My family’s brackets are shattered, I think (I didn’t play). Ohio State is in the Elite Eight so at least the Big Ten has 1 team in. Hopefully Michigan and Michigan State can get in tomorrow.

My hometown team and alma mater is back in the Final 4! Go Orange!
My wife’s alma mater as well, class of 1970. (And where I had 9 months of Russian language training in the Air Force)

Kevin Ware’s broken leg today was the worst I have ever seen in basketball, and one of the worst I have seen in any sport. My prayers are with him because that was bad.

So thrilled that my graduate alma-mater, Wichita State, has advanced to the final four. I really don’t see the Shox getting past Louisville, but considering that I didn’t see them getting past Gonzaga this has been a most enjoyable tourney and win or lose I am so proud of them. Also, like I said I think Louisville is too big of a challenge, but then again Pittsburgh, Gonzaga, LaSalle, and Ohio State were also supposed to beat them. So who knows, rip em up, tear em up, Lets Go Shox!!!

I wonder what odds Vegas was giving on Wichita making it to the final 4?

It’s not like they’ve been lucky or had calls go their way, they’ve just out played their competition and won in convincing fashion (except for the last couple minutes of Saturday’s game). I hope their experience with Louisville taught them (at least their coach) a lesson on trying to sit on a lead instead of playing to win. The competition is too good at this level to do something like that. KU learned that on their way out of the tourneyment last week.

I didn’t see the game yesterday, but heard it was a bad one. That said, Joe Theisman would disgree with the bolded 😛

I saw maybe 5 minutes total of basketball over the weekend, but Michigan is on a roll, they are going to be tough to beat.

Freak accident, and when he went down he was having the best game on the floor. Russ Smith also played with the flu on antibiotics, they shot about 50% from the free-throw and much worse than Duke from the 3. In fact I find it highly doubtful that performance will be repeated. That “was” the day to beat Louisville

That full court trap defense of Louisville is a nightmare to play against and with a 8-man rotation. They just wear you out and frustrate you with constant pressure and turn-overs. They went on a 20-4 run second half with Duke in minutes, Theres no coming back you let them out in front of you like that.

Syracuse guard in nothing to sneeze at either and at 6’6 he may well be the best player in the final 4. . Burke played exceptional against Kansas though. Factor is who is gonna be able to advance the ball without turnovers against Louisville. Easier said than done I do believe. Best defense in college basketball, and they had a “bad” day yesterday.

Wears home town is Atlanta also… uh-oh, home court advantage in full effect.

Just like to brag about my alma mater UofM being in the championship game tomorrow night. GO BLUE!

Go Blue, I would cheer for Louisville*, but because of their star referee Karl Hess I have to place an asterisk next to their name.

Congratulations! Although I went to Michigan State (rival school), I am rooting for Michigan tonight.

Richard Pitino (son of Rick) was named Minnesota’s basketball coach the other day. People here are largely excited about the choice, but there is some skepticism about his age (30) and experience (1 year as a head coach). It will be interesting to see how he does. Hopefully he can get some good recruits.

My cousin Matt went to Michigan State as well, and I had picked them rather than Michigan to make the Final Four. (I had State losing in the national semifinal.)

Still, being a native of the Great Lakes State and all, I am rooting for Big Blue tonight. 😃
