at what point does putting yourself in the near occasion of sin become mortally sinful?

today i was on a blog reading a review of a video game. there was a link to a clip called “topless” skydiving. i clicked the link, watched the ten second video. everything was blurred out.

i clicked it out of curiosity…how could a video game have that in its game?

i dont feel like i lusted after the image but i feel like i might have been putting myself in the near occassion of sin.

is this mortally sinful?
thanks

ps i struggle with scrupulosity

A near occasion for a mortal sin (generally when one speaks of near occasions they mean mortal) is some thing or person or place etc what generally leads one to commit a particular mortal sin…(or likely will)…(one could word it other ways but that is the jist)

It can be of the nature that it generally leads most to sin…or a particular person.

We are obliged usually to avoid such…and can sin by putting ourselves in them or remaining in them…voluntarily…without say some sufficiently good reason… (ones confessor can help one judge).

There can be good reasons where one must be in such…some one cannot even avoid…or there can be occasions which are not really near occasions …

There can be venial sin or even mortal sin…or even no sin at all…depending.

As to what you mentioned I would discuss it with your confessor. Certainly we one should not be clicking such to watch…

(and of course ask yourself if the three aspects for mortal sin were present in examining your conscience)
