I was in a supermarket and
Was it wrong for me to venture into the woman’s department of a shop I was in? I knew there were some images printed on the certain products that were immodest, I knew going in there would be a near occasion of sin so kept my eyes averted. I went in because I wanted to talk to my Mother who was there. However despite looking down and away I still caught a few glimpses. Was it mortally sinful for me to approach this area? I didn’t desperately need to talk to my mother.

As has been suggested to you previously, you need to get under the care of a priest who can help you with your scrupulosity.

A near occasion for mortal sin is basically something etc which due to its nature or due for for the person in particular – it generally or always or likely (or would generally) leads one to commit the mortal sin in question.

So for example if one usually would fall into the mortal sin of getting drunk- loosing ones reason when one goes to a particular place – that place or the situation there can be said to be a near occasion.
