Need a prayers for my Aunt

Hi all,

I am new to this forum. I come here in desperation. My aunt, who has battled with cancer in the past has fallen seriously ill. She is suffering from brain metastasis and her liver has been affected by all the turmoil in her body.

She is a very dear person to me and my mother. She is a nun and I do no understand why she has been subjected to this fate. I love her very much.

I am out of the country and will be reaching in 16 days from today. I pray to God and I ask you to pray that I may see her when I reach home. My faith in God is strong, I know he is watching over her. I know that if he wishes he can cure her. I do not understand his reasons for my aunt’s suffering. This Sunday in church my prayer was Lord, let not my will, but thy will be done. Although it’s hard to digest and I do not know if I can be so strong to accept her suffering, I leave it to God/Jesus/Mother Mary and all the angels/saints to take care of her when she leaves her earthly abode.

If she suffers now, may she be blessed in the after life, peaceful with Jesus in Heaven.

Natasha, you have prayed it very well. We received our life from the Lord and He alone will take it back. I believe that for some, purgatory begins in this life. Suffering is redemptive, since Christ suffered to redeem us. Since no impurity may enter heaven, and since we all die with the impurity of sin, there must be a mechanism in place if we are ever to have hope of entering the Kingdom. Purgatory is that mechanism, but sometimes God is so merciful that He allows this process to begin in life.

We do not like to see all of God’s work, since we do not and cannot understand it. However, everything that happens to your aunt is part of God’s plan for her from all eternity. Praise God for the gift of her life, and for all of the blessings you received while with her. Even if you do not see her again on earth, God has planned for you in that regard as well. His promise of eternal life takes away your fear. And so I pray:

Merciful Lord of all, You alone conceived of Natasha’s aunt as part of Your Divine plan. You have heard the prayerful pleas of those who love her, and You have seen her great love of You, which she revealed by her life. Grant that any suffering she may bear serves for her eternal redemption, in the fashion of the suffering Your Beloved Son, Jesus Christ bore on our behalf. Grant Heavenly peace unto her and her loved ones during this test of their faith, and grant blessed healing to her, in mind, body and spirit. We ask this through Christ, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever. Amen.

Thank you all for your prayers. My aunt expired 4 hours ago. May her soul rest in peace. I wish I got to see her one last time, and I wish I was at home with my mother to help her through the loss of her sister, her best friend.

Aunty, I know you’re up there sitting next to Jesus today. Merciful Jesus, grant her eternal rest. Atleast now your suffering has ended. I wish I could have helped you. I will miss you and everything you did for me. I will miss all the things you prepared, the handkerchiefs you sewed with your hand, which are here with me. I can only use them to wipe my tears.

I request the kind people here, to pray for my family, may we be able to cope with this loss.

Blessed Lord Jesus, receive into eternal glory your servant whom the Father has called home. For it is only in answering His call that we have hope of entering into the house You prepared for us since the beginning of time. Lord of all, You know her heart and we pray that You judge her with Heavenly mercy. My beloved Christ, You are mercy itself, and we pray for her family and those who loved her, that their love return to them as she now intercedes with You on their behalf. Grant them the gift of Your Holy Spirit, to illuminate their hearts and fill them with hope in the resurrection, that they look forward to an everlasting joy in adoration of Your Father. May their love of You draw them together in this time of testing, that they praise Your Glorious Name and give thanks for the blessing that she was, and is and will be forever. We humbly ask this through Your Heavenly, Holy and Eternal Name. Amen.

I will pray for the repose of your dear Aunty’s soul, and for you and your entire family at Mass, in my daily prayers and before the Blessed Sacrament. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss…
