Need a Scriptural Reference

Hello Brethren:

Am trying to reference something in scripture. Specifically a Pauline quote. It comes out of a sermon by St Francis of Assisi.

The “theme” Saint Francis adopted for his sermon was: "So great is the good I expect that all suffering is to me a delight".

There are several places in scripture where this theme is prevalent.

At the end of the Beatitudes, “Rejoice and Be Glad for Your Reward Will Be Great In Heaven.”

and, in the first letter of Saint Peter,

"Wherein you shalt greatly rejoice, if now you must be for a little time made sorrowful in divers temptations: "

But - I think the theme was actually taken from one of Saint Paul’s letters, almost verbatim. I just can’t find it.

Can anyone say confirm if it is a Pauline quote, and, if so, where it might be located?

When I remembered St Francis’ quote came from Paul, I have been trying to find it (on and off) for a couple of months now by myself - especially during the last week…

Thank you. It helps to be familiar with certain biblical phrases and to know to search the NT or the OT when using search engines online. Without such familiarity it can be hard to find what you’re looking for.

This “theme” St Francis adopted for his sermon was so very much at the heart of our faith in Christ!
