Hi friends. This is my first post. I face a challenge that you may be able to help me with. I’m in an uncomfortable situation that I don’t know how to handle.

My adopted cousin lives in the U.S. illegally and her husband lives in another country. She has a daughter that she hasn’t seen in 5 years. Now she has a “boyfriend” here in America, and they have 3 Facebook pages where they air their cheating. Idk. I feel like it is my place to do something, even though it really doesn’t affect me personally. How should I proceed? Thanks.

There isn’t much you can do except pray for them.

People in these situations think they’re in love and that nothing else matters. If you pray, the light of God’s grace will enter into their lives, and if they accept it, they may eventually begin to emerge from the fog that is adultery.

Anyway, that’s just my advice.

Pray for wisdom in your words! Many times well-timed words said gently plant a seed that in due time will flower and bear fruit. If the Holy Spirit inspires you to speak then do so! If it is not well-taken it is not your fault.
Those words can be the catalyst that changes their lives - even though not right away.

the grace of God continues to work on them and they need to respond with their free will.

Thank you both for the advice.

I’ve been praying heavily and continuously for about a month now. I’ve indirectly said a few things to this cousin, hoping she would honor her marriage vows…Unfortunately, she seems content with abandoning her child, and living with this man and his children. It’s truly sickens me to have to sit on the sidelines and watch her destroy lives for her own selfish, immoral motives.

I was contemplating having her deported, because she does have a child that she hasn’t seen since she gave birth…I really do have her daughter’s best interest at heart, and I’m worried for her soul. I’ll continue to pray for her to see the light. Thanks again.

The real kicker is that her “boyfriend’s” kids all attend Catholic schools, and she goes to all of their sporting events, and most recently a Confirmation.

Are we to presume from this you are thinking of calling immigration?

If so, don’t.

Proceed in this manner: stay away from their Facebook book pages and them and find something charitable to do that will take up more of your time and thoughts.

One thing I forgot to add:

Choose to not be distressed by the very wrong choices they are making. Keep leaving them in the heart of the Lord and our Blessed Mother every time you feel upset by their actions. Keep saying that you trust the Lord, and it is only His Grace that can help.

I know,…it is a battle…but the Lord has already won it, we need to move into it. The Lord will allow you to grow spiritually through your sincere prayers and trust in Him.

God bless!

PS - the Mercy Chaplet helps a lot!
