Need advise please

In making our will, we must choose a guardian for our children in case the unthinkable happened.

We really have no Catholic options.

If the two best choices you had were members of the Baptist church, or Church of Christ (Stone-Campbell, I think), which would be the best choice…and why?..both options being equal in all other ways…both good people, great families, kids, marriages…both equally committed to our children and honored to be chosen as guardians.

How old are your children? I would be inclined to say that you need to sit down with both families and find out which one (if any) would consider allowing your children to continue practicing Catholicism. If not, I would say discover which family has the best grasp of the Gospels. I know Baptists love the Gospels as we do, but I’m not sure what the other Bible, or non-denominational Church might teach in terms of the Gospel.
 
I would lean toward the Baptist family myself. However I would ask that their education in the Catholic Church continue and also that they attend a Catholic Church. This can certainly be done if they are willing.

Maybe I should have phrased my question differently, as I really wanted to know more about the two denominations and which would be considered preferable, as my children would be raised in that church, regardless of whether or not they were also allowed to continue in the Catholic Church.

Both families are wonderfully Christian and love the gospels. I just wondered which denomination is closer to the truth?

I know that Baptists believe “once saved, always saved”, and I don’t think that they believe that baptism is necessarily required, and they rarely have communion, which is “symbolic”.

I know that the Church of Christ does not believe OSAS, believes in baptism is required and is for remission of sins, and they regularly take communion, which is symbolic.

I’d love (name removed by moderator)ut from anyone more informed than I.

Who are the children’s godparents. They would have promised to help bring up the children in the Catholic faith.
