Need an Honest Answer

The world does not care.

I posted this on Facebook and only two people responded. I love my friends on Facebook but I realize that they just do not care. I don’t understand it at all. I am going to take a break from posting for awhile.

I don’t think it’s as bleak as “the world doesn’t care.” What it comes down to is that this has all the hallmarks of a social media FOAF story.

Now, there are reports that Cdl Schönborn, at his Easter Vigil homily, mentioned that the crucifixion took place. However, other reports merely say that he said it had been threatened.

In the meantime, no reputable western news source has confirmed the story, nor has any group claimed it’s actually done it. Moreover, there is no photo or video of it (which, sadly, has become a hallmark of their SOP).

Before you condemn the world as ‘uncaring’, you might consider that, just perhaps, the world has considered the lack of reports as proof that the story just doesn’t seem credible at the moment. All we know for sure is that he’s been kidnapped, and his life is at risk.
 
I’m curious as to how the Austrian Cardinal received confirmation of this, if this terrible thing has been done. As Gorgias says, there doesn’t seem to be any other verification.

Let’s pray that his life has been spared.

Yep good question … Any other media story I have seen on it today says that while there are reports nothing has been confirmed… Seems odd simply because knowing ISIS like we do one would think that they would have happily announced this , and released the video… One would think …

Also as I read this I’m struck by a comment our Bishop made on Holy Thursday , The goal of the Catholic Priesthood is martyrdom… For some reason that quote has stayed with me all weekend

Yeah I think that’s why you’re not seeing wider coverage of this. There were reports last week purportedly debunking the idea they were going to crucify him. And there’s been no confirmation that the priest has been crucified except from that Archbishop from what I’ve seen. If he was crucified and it is confirmed however you’ll see coverage for sure. Here’s hoping no such confirmation comes and he’s still ok (as “ok” as one can be in Daesh’s hands).
