so if im under mortal sin. and my family expects me to take the eucharist. can i cross my arms over my chest so the priest just blesses me and my family wont notice and get all weird?

You can. But why not just go to confession? It’s up to you. Why do your family get weird? We’re all sinners.

Maybe you can show them the church’s official teaching on this from the catechism. Go to this link and type in eucharist. It’s automatic excommunication to knowingly profane the eucharist too.

I love my faith and I especially love the Eucharist, but for personal reasons and also the inability because of work and school to ever make it to the very few confession times the churches in my area offer (Saturdays ONLY between 3 and 4, I work then
), I have not been able to make it to confession in a very long time. I did not know it was a sin to recieve Communion without Confession… Have I been doing something wrong? I just can’t imagine not being able to recieve Jesus in the Eucharist - He gives me so much peace when I recieve Him, but I do not want to further sin by taking Him without Confession… Am I committing a sin? 
I guess I had hoped that Jesus was so merciful He would understand my circumstances and forgive me my sins even if I couldn’t make it to confess to a priest…

As long as you have not committed any mortal sins, you’re fine. A sin is mortal when you know full well you’re committing the sin and you sin anyway. But you really should seek out a time to make a confession, even if your sins are only venial. If your schedule doesn’t match up with the times confession is offered in the church, then call and make an appointment with the priest for a time that you could fit it in. You are committed to making a confession at least once a year though, preferably during the Easter season. If it’s been more than a year since your last confession, you should abstain from receiving the Eucharist until you can make a confession.

Mortal sin is committed with **full knowledge **of the sinner
Mortal sin is committed with **deliberate consent **of the sinner
This means that mortal sins cannot be done “accidentally.”
Say a nightly act of contrition until you can get to confession.

What about phoning the priest and explaining your problem. Maybe he’ll be available after school for you or when it suits you. He doesn’t have to tell your parents.im young. im 14. so ill just cross my arms and wait till next time.

You **can **go to confession, because Jesus only needs to hear you confess about your not being able to go to a priest and then confess to Jesus ( because of our situation) and get on our knees and tell Jesus you are sorry.
I do this every day and ask Jesus to bless any person I have hurt if I am not able to apologise direstly to them. The peace comes right back to me.
Remember Jesus is a God of Love one who is complete MECY, if you are serious aout being sorry Jesus cannot not forgive for He wants you to be free.
You can do it,

You must go to confession if you have committed a serious sin, before communion. Don’t worry about the past though. You can be forgiven with an act:thumbsup: of perfect contrition but if confession is available you must go. In some countries there is such a shortage of priests you only see one every 6 mths. The faithful are told to do their best to make an act of perfect contrition before receiving communion which the priest leaves behind. And when he returns in 6 mths you go to confession. But if confession is available you must go before communion. Most priests will be more than happy to hear your confession by appointment if needs be. Ask the priest. If he was to say no then look for a priest who will. There would be something seriously wrong with a priest who would never make an appointment for confession in special circumstances. Priests are forbidden by the church to deny confession to any normal penitent. They must oblige you here. If your in mortal sin, you must first get absoulution in the confessional before you receive the Eucharist. But, the sincere act of contrition with the want to go to confession will cover you in case of death. I can’t remember the Church’s term off hand of the intent to confess in case’s of death. Tim

From the code of canon law. Where it says you can make an act of perfect contrition and receive communion refers to cases where there are no priests to hear your confession. Not when it’s hard to make it.
Can. 916 Anyone who is conscious of grave sin may not celebrate Mass or receive the Body of the Lord without previously having been to sacramental confession, unless there is a grave reason and there is no opportunity to confess; in this case the person is to remember the obligation to make an act of perfect contrition, which includes the resolve to go to confession as soon as possible.

Well her it is exactly as I mentioned for our God is a God of mercy. There is a BUT as I mentioned, that you ***have to be true ***to your wanting forgiveness, it has to be because you are sincere ecause you accept the magnitude of the sin against God’s Love.
There is another point here to and that is, if you are able to go to Mass then all it takes is to go early so that you can tell the priest before hand what the situation is and then ask for confession /absolution.
Until then Jesus tell’s us in the bible that we should not **NOT ** go to bed with unresolved issues, or, not asking God to forgive us no matter what the situation is, or how grave the sin is. If you are not able to go to confessin you are obliged to get on your knees and askGod forgiveness. Then as soon as you are able seek to see a priest. But don’t dwindle satin wants you captive. God want’s you free.

Do you have a cell phone? Access to the family phone? Call your priest and tell him your situation, that you think you are in mortal sin (double check that with the three conditions, first).
Do you go to a Catholic school? Is there a priest there or a priest who acts as chaplain? Ask him to hear your confession.
Do you have a bike? If you can bike to your friend’s house, and bike to the store, you can bike to confession. You can also walk if it’s not more than a couple miles. You can also say, “Mom/ Dad, I’d like to go to confession next week. Can you take me?” As a parent, I would make it a point to drive you there, without wanting to hear your serious sin.
