Need confession before communion?

I know my father needs to go to confession to receive the Eucharist worthily, he doesn’t like it when I remind him, am I an acomplice to commiting sacriledge by reminding him to get to mass for Sundays/Holy Days of Obligation? Is it better for him to just not go to mass at all than to receive communion unworthily? I know it is good for him to hear the readings.
 
There’s a couple of issues in play here:
  1. A person is only required to go to confession before communion if he has committed a mortal sin. Venial sins can be forgiven during the Penitential Rite. I’m not sure how you would know if your father is in mortal sin.
  2. Our obligation on Sundays and Holy Days is to attend Mass, not receive communion. Even if someone is canonically forbidden from receiving communion, he still has the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days.
