A good friend was shocked when i said that her bible was missing 7 books. She wanted to know what the books were, what was said in them, and why they were taken out. I know what the books where and even some of the reasons Martin Luther didnt like them. but trying to find a website or article to send to her has been difficult. This might just be my chance to give her a little truth and see if it grows into something bigger. Any help would be great.

thanks

Dear Stayathomemommy,

“I’m one of those too!”

I have an article, or two, that may assist you!
  1. envoymagazine.com/backissues/1.2/marapril_story2.html
  • 5 Myths about 7 Books, by Mark Shea
  1. catholicapologetics.net/0002BIBLE.htm
includes links for the following articles:

The Deuterocanonical Books - (The “Apocrypha” books)
The History of The Deuterocanonical Books in The Protestant Bibles
The Influence of the the Deuterocanonical books
Answering common Protestant objections to the Deuterocanonical books
Answering Protestant Articles objecting to the Deuterocanonical books.

I hope that helps. I would also suggest a couple books (for information). They include: “Why Catholic Bibles Are Bigger” (I believe by Gary Michuta) and “Where We Got The Bible: Our Debt to the Catholic Church”, by Rev. Henry Graham.
