Off point of the thread a bit, forgive me, but I personally think if there were more opportunities for Perpetual Adoration for people, (I am lucky a closeby parish has one and its 24 hrs! and its respectful)! there would be more Catholics getting more on fire for their faith.
I remember the first time I went as a Catholic (I went once as a non C)
and it really helped me a whole lot to get more focused on my faith, and to put it first in my life. Even my toddler has gone with me and understands its “quiet time with Jesus”. I wish all Catholics had a fair shot at getting to one and tring it if they have not.
The first time I went I was a bit scared. I was not Catholic, but a friend told me to go. And I was the only one there!
After about 10 minutes or so went by a nice lady came in and asked me how long I was there and if anyone else had been there and she looked panicked.
She told me she was late getting there and someone always had to be there and thank God someone was there. I was just there to pray and had no clue what she was talking about because I did not know that Jesus was right there in front of me!
(that is what I would have felt had I been told)
Anyway, I wish I could help volunteer an hour at the parish close by me but they dont need any volunteers now. They have lots of people at adoration when I go. I am working on switching my family to that parish. In time…

and i have to totally agree with the above statement also…as does our Priest (Father George)thank you for sharing this wonderful testament with us…Adoration is such a wonderful experience and “does” bring people closer to our Church and Christ…I too wish that more folks had the opportunity to experience it…just imagine what kinda Church we would have thenI remember the first time I went as a Catholic (I went once as a non C)

Deacon ed that is not really perpetual adoration. That is adoration one time per month for several parishes.

Location and availibility has direct relationship to vocations.
Lincoln Nebraska is a prime example of orthodoxy/adoration and its relationship to seminarians.
It is amazing to see some striking numbers here.

Their website lists 1,044,199 Catholics and 24 seminarians!!:bigyikes:
Now lets look at Lincoln Nebraska 89,000 Catholics and 38 seminarians.
Whatever Lincoln is doing the rest of the country should TAKE NOTICE stop whatever they are doing and do what Lincoln does. Of course some dioceses WANT a priestly shortage because of AGENDA!
If Orange was as successful as LINCOLN the math tells us that Orange should have 445 seminarians.
NOT 24!
ALOT of it has to do with availibility of PERPETUAL adoration. Vocations flow from devotions.

We are a rural county in the state of Washington. And we have Adoration in at least one parish 5 days a week except weekends.
St. Mary’s on Monday, St Yves & St Francis Xavier on Tues., St Francis Xavier on Wed evening, St Joseph’s on Thurs and St Francis Xavier on Friday.
St. Francis Xavier is a mission church and the oldest in western Washington, originally founded in 1838. It has burned down 3 times, the last in 1932 but rebuilt each time. Sadly the Franciscans gave it over to the Diocese in the early 1990’s and the St Mary’s school was closed.

why is it so hard for one parish to have adoration for the whole week? some of us dont want to go parish jumping just to go to adoration

I know, it bugs me too. But hey, I don’t want to parish hop but I’ll do it rather than submit to the abuses I see through out the Diocese.
Generally the same people attend the Adoration at whatever parish is holding the Mass & Benediction. Adoration usually goes until 5-6:00pm. I spend about 1-2 hours and then leave, as long as someone is there, as the priest never returns. A Eucharistic minister usually puts the Host back in the tabernacle. I can’t stand to see the “Cavalier” attitude with which they treat the Host.

As the vocations chairperson for my parish I am seriously going to look into children of hope. Please Please pray for my “mission” in helping my parish be a point of vocations in my diocese. Please!!!
