Hello, I am Becky and are new to Catholic Answers. Hope i am in the right forum.
I am a cradle catholic, my husband is a convert My husband and I have both attended Cursillio which was great. my problem lies with my daughter who i raised in the faith. But as an adult she has left. she is raising both of her children in the protestant faith.
They are both involved in this thing called “Awana”
i pulled the website upand looked through it and came accross what they believe in. and their idea of God’s plan of salvation. I am very upset with this being taught to my grandchildren as I feel it goes against a lot of our faith’s teachings.
Any books or words of wisdom that i can read or listen to, to find answers to each of their beliefs that i can disprove.or teach them in the correct way would be helpful. As I as a cradle Catholic always found it hard to defend my faith. and are still learning.Thank you

You have your work cut out for you. Many of us have loved ones that have left the Church. Here are my suggestions:

–Prayer and sacrifice. Spend a holy hour in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament as frequently as possible.

–Love and charity toward them.

–Express your love for God openly and openly give thanks for all that God has done in your life.

–Let your witness and example preach the gospel.

I do have a book that I really like and can recommend.
Get Dave Armstrong’s “A Biblical Defense of Catholicism.”

Another good book would be James Akin’s book The Salvation Controversy.

I would suggest that you also read the tracts on Catholic.com as well as participating on this Forum. You can search the threads on topics that you are interested in and you can learn all of the arguments for and against.

If you have questions feel free to PM me and I can see if I can send you some material to help out via emails.

Welcome! 👋

Pax’s advice is very good! If you have any specific questions that you encounter, you can bring them up here at CAF one-at-a-time, and there are many who will be happy to help you answer them, or point you in the right direction.

God bless!

Say hello to a former ‘AWANA’ worker. I actually got the club started in one church and was a worker in another (cubbies and sparkies). The games were alfully stupid, and the object is always to get the child to ‘say a sinners prayer’ so they will be ‘saved’. If you want confused kids, its a great program.
Take the advice of the people here. CA is a wonderful resource.

It’s going to be pretty difficult to influence your grandchildren in the face of your daughter’s decision. Constant prayer, especially to Our Lady, for her intercession can be very helpful. This may be a little off topic, but I feel it speaks well for the power of prayer. My Grandmother was married to a non-Catholic for almost 50 years. All the kids were raised Catholic. My Grandmother’s daily prayer was that my Grandfather would convert to the Faith. He did. It was literally on the day he died. Hope that true story helps you some. Our Lord indeed has the power to make these things happen.
