cancer.org/docroot/NWS/content/NWS_1_1x_Smoking_Marijuana_May_Increase_Cancer_Risk.asp is this misguided? again…I am concerned about your health, I like beer but limit my self to a six pack a month, weed? no way, anyway peace be with you:)
You are able to use beer in moderation, which is good. Being concerned for other’s health is good. Anonymously cheering on the use of state force to physically punish someone who drinks beer (or consumes cannabis) is not being charitable.

It is the progressive-addled brain which causes more real harm than it imputes to help.

That’s awesome, I live in that country too, hence my location, but cops don’t prove anything outside of a court. They gather evidence, that’s all. When they detain, issue a citation, or arrest somebody, they don’t do so under proof of anything. Even the scene of a person holding a bloody knife over a dead body can not be taken as “proof” they killed that person. All that happens inside of a court of law. Like I said in my previous post, you will fail a field sobriety test if you are given one. Most marijuana users don’t pass them, unless that person hasn’t had much at all or has an extreamely high tollerance.
Good post.

I wonder if Sejin is aware that drivers can be charged, prosecuted and convicted of impaired driving ( by alcohol) without evidence of the breathalyzer being entered into evidence…a conviction solely on evidence of consumption, observations of citizens and observations of the arresting observers…

Yeah, he probably doesn’t know that.

I thank you for your concern, truly, I am just saying it’s misguided. There isn’t anything to be concerned about. People just believe the lies that have been fed to them over the years, which recently people are actually taking a second look at and seeing that it was all propaganda.
You are unreal man, truely! Bob Marley was a leader of the “back to Africa” movement–his “religious” practice was to smoke Ganga or the Weed–Fire,Fire,Fire!! however he died at a very young age------OF LUNG CANCER!!

Years ago,I too smoked pot, hash, hash oil, hash mixed with opium and taken LSD,speed---- and yes this was preceeded by alcohol abuse since the age of 15 when I drank at the Pub,under aged.

So I know a little about the drug culture!!! I must admit it was a real struggle to give it up!! I spent two weeks at a rehab in a state hospital, two weeks at a catholic run one.

It was the grace of God that finally I was able to give up the habit of being stonned.Since then I would not wish my worst enemy to smoke marijuana and I also do not drink fullstop.

As for my smoking buddies–most never stopped, one friend has now a drug addict son–learnt from the example of his father. Two others had operations for cancer!! Two got busted for dealing! Another jumped off a bridge onto a train line! Some paid their “chicks” of free love to pay for abortions. etc, etc.–that is your drug culture!!

Apart from this expert practical knowledge,I have studied a lot on the effects of marijuana and the moral consequences! I have an above average knowledge of psychology to recognize a disordered doped up brain ;just from what their postings reveal ! Some weirdo stated that Jesus would have smoked marijuana–why should I reply to such gibberish?

Some should not mock a person who pointed out that satan can have a foothold in a drug users soul.I have read about an officially appointed exorcist priest in Rome who claimed that some demons he drove out came from people using illict drugs! I remember smoking a batch of hash oil called “the devils’ dream”! might have been just a name; but who though of it!.Certainly in my acid (LSD) trips,Hawks always were there–I could tell you more; but this is not a thread on astral travel and the occult.

As I have stated before smoking marijuana or legalizing it will only be a backward step.Jesus is the only reality that anybody needs. He is The Way,The Truth and The Life–dope is the opposite path!

A humble contrite heart You will not scorn!

Supposedly, alcohol is therefore a “gateway drug” and ought to be outlawed, eh?

Back to moral theology, there is no sin in consuming alcohol or tobacco or cannabis, just in its abuse. That you yourself may have once abused alcohol and cannabis is no moral reason to want to outlaw its use and to cowardly and vicariously punish its users via the powers of the state.

deadly is not standing up and doing anything about it. marijuana has countless contribution to gluttony and sloth. both deadly sins that tear us away from God and the people around us. there is no middle, no less bad, least evil, or slightly okay or better. only ONE GOOD. As Catholics we stand as whole in order to protect the whole. not let some thing slip by because it is not as important or least harmful. that in itself is sloth and damaging to our simple being.

Everyone seems disinterested and lazy to this issue simply because it doesn’t apply to them or they think it’s “no big deal”. that’s what is upsetting the most. at least there are people to oppose the other crude that is going on, but with this? like no body cares about Truth anymore simply because it’s not that big of a deal. sorry pal, but the even one foul is wrong and even one personal addiction could cause harm to your own peace. kind of like the rich merchant of whom Jesus asked to give up his possessions. even one little thing can explode into something that takes you off the road.

in the end it’s all gluttony and that’s addiction. in the end it still needs to be opposed.
Maybe the one possession which you are being called upon to renounce, O rich man, is the progressive-addled notion that you must “help” others avoid harm through the use of the harmful force of the state.

If marijuana results in the sins of sloth and gluttony then I am certain those who are so quick to point out imaginary sins in people whom they don’t even know do not themselves own a comfortable chair or ever visit a banquet dining hall.

Wow, it looks like you over came a lot. I’m glad you beat your addictions with the help of the Lord. 🙂

However, you must understand that this doesn’t speak for everybody who uses marijuana. There are many people who like to use it to relax, whether be with friends or alone and they are usually cool, calm, and collected.

Also Bob Marley died of brain cancer from a malignant tumor on the foot he refused to cut off. The cancer spread to other parts of the body including lungs, but ultimately took much hold in the brain.

Bob Marley’s cancer wasn’t caused from smoking and his cancer actually started in his toe.

'.During 1977, Marley had a health scare. He sought treatment in July on a toe he had injured earlier that year. Discovering that there were cancerous cells on his toe, Marley underwent surgery to remove them in Miami, Florida.

…It was discovered that the earlier cancer discovered in his toe had spread throughout his body.’

…The spread of melanoma to his lungs and brain caused his death.’

Hi there.
Ok so I’m a college student in California. I know quite a few pot smokers (not well but…) (one of my good friends just got into it about a month ago actually).
Anyway, I got invited to hang out with some of my classmates yesterday to “work on homework” (riight). Yeah, after a little while everybody started smoking weed and drinking beer…except me…The issue I have with it is that alot of people (probably most actually) use those substances in order to feel high. My friend seems to think that he can only have fun when he’s on something (he actually told me this when I said a few weeks ago that I don’t really understand why people choose to smoke, drink, etc).
Soo, yesterday I thought I would hang out a little while (just to see what the effects were on them really because that was the first time I was in that kind of situation. Is that bad? lol). It ‘appears’ that smoking pot is harmless since everybody was calm and…i dunno hippie-like and huggable? lol. They seemed to be having a pretty good time. What worried me a little bit was when a few of them were pretty forgetful on what was going on and where they were, not realizing what they were doing (and they were about ready to drive home like that?!..yeeah so I ended up taking people back home…driving like that I think is waaaay too dangerous if you can’t think properly!) Even so, if you’re all drugged up like that (on anything really! this goes for alcohol too if it’s being used irresponsibly) I’m sure it’s easy for another person to take advantage of you or you would do something you normally wouldn’t do when your head is clear.
I don’t know I think it’s really stupid that some think they have to use a drug or alcohol in order to have a good time. Is it that people just don’t care anymore? That everything in life is meaningless? That’s kind of the impression I get from my classmates…and I really do think it’s addictive mainly because 1) my brother was actually hooked on it a few years ago and he wasn’t even smoking for very long (my parents had fun dealing with that I’m sure) 2) Since people find using a drug necessary to feel a sort of ‘happiness’ or relaxing mood I think that only gives them the incentive to increase the usage really. My friend probably sees alcohol (and now pot) as a way to escape from reality or stress I guess…no idea why he thinks he needs it all of a sudden. (peer pressure might have something to do with it too because I know he has close friends that are into it and alot of our classmates smoke too (seriously like half our class I just learned) and it’s a chance for him to be all social and make a bunch of friends). The problem here is that he’s barely gotten into it and it looks like he’s already on the verge of becoming addicted (he’s beginning to use it almost everyday to get high; that can’t be good! what’s going to happen when it starts to lose it’s effect???) And the media is definately part of the blame because it totally glorifies drugs (bandwagon advertising too!) making it seem like it’s perfectly fine to get high. If it’s so wonderful, then how come I’m only seeing issues with it here???

I’m sorry I’ve been away. Ok, everyone said alot. I’m not addressing everything. I’m just going to say that Marijuana (Which is NOT a drug, It’s a plant created by God the Almighty) is ofcourse harmful in large doses, as is anything even food, but when it isn’t abused it is just perfectly fine. I smoke maybe 1 or 2 days out of the week so I’m not at that much risk of too many health problems. All the data that the prohibitionists have cited like the car crashes ,lung cancer and the like are from people who abused it. The fact that most here make it out to be some devil designed plant is just outrageous. You want good information? Go to my facebook group. Just read the data and make your own conclusions. Don’t just believe what big brother tells you. and I promise you won’t go to hell for reading my data which I’m sure most from this site will say otherwise =X

wow, did I say that…not, I am not cheering on state force…never said that, I am speaking purely from a medical viewpoint

You might want to do some research on the definition of drug. Marijuana easily falls into that category, and if ever legalized, will be under FDA regulations along with other legal drugs like Alcohol and opiate based drugs which obviously come from natural sources. Many drugs on the market do not affect both the mind and body, but something along the lines of marijuana and alcohol easily fall into the same category and should be treated as a serious subject falling under all FDA regulations. Just because something grows in the wild doesn’t make it less of a drug.

God created a lot of things, but that doesn’t make it right to classify those things the way you’re trying to and just put your own spin on it. It takes out the seriousness of the issue at hand and makes it more likely to hinder the cause. The FDA couldn’t care less whether or not something is created by God. People who are obviously pro-God could easily give you a list of “natural” plants which can easily kill you with ingestion. See Water Hemlock.

For your entire post, you really should cite your sources.
In any event, you heard incorrectly and your opinion is grounded on a weak foundation.
funny, science is based on humans seeing an interaction in front of their eyes. this has been used and excepted in science for generations…did not know that personal experience was to be dropped all of a sudden. I guess it just isn’t what you want to hear?
Either way, I am not claiming that I know everything nor seen everything, I just find it absurd that your or another persons experience should be considered high and mighty while mine is considered incorrect when the only difference being it’s simple lead against marijuana. Now, back to why I created this thread = to find more information. So of coarse I am not going to say I have every source. Perhaps you already knew that? I’ll try to find more along my road.
Marijuana is illegal in America. America is the fattest western nation, has a very successful adult film ( porn) industry and the highest teen pregnancy rate in the western world. ( So, sloth, gluttony and lust have already exploded in America…without legalizing marijuana)
I’m going to be frank, I don’t like nor trust wiki websites due to this reason…it is too easily changed by anyone. I researched seven deadly sins and it stated that as Catholics, there are some sins least important in our teachings (horribly false). There was an in-correction stating that the Egyptian symbol known as an Ankh is used/stolen by early Catholics to use as the Cross. wiki websites are made by any one and information is added by anyone (even those who mentally try to wage war against Catholics or other groups), but I’ll take a look at your links to be kind. I’m sure it will be interesting. To counter your statement on how America is already corrupt. Evil must be fought on every level, not just what is more convenient, less dangerous, or easiest…and with America being as you claim…“corrupt” why allow it to develop into a society deeper into the whole? U.S. economy is also bad at this time, you going to just stop and focus merely on your self to allow it to drop further? I don’t see the point in allowing my home become infested with a lukewarm mind set to every single thing that becomes a problem or has a mix in personal opinion.
America has been waging a solid war against drugs for decades and America has soundly lost said war.
Really? here’s a govt stand point.

Well I just wasted 30 minutes on typing this up, but here I go again I guess. the below quote is from me if you do not notice
40.png
da_nolo:
it does not need to be like nicotine in order to being addictive.
Just to take the time to explain that I have been fighting an addiction for a year or two now, you don’t need to know what it is. Most addictions are the same…not to say the reason is the same, but how humans react to them pretty much is. don’t think so? just take some time to think about it and ponder how people react to addiction, then you should agree. if not well…not my fault. anyways, the above quote states that you can be addicted to more than just nicotine. A substance does not need nicotine nor any resemblance to it in order to create an addiction. Here is a link that describes effects of nicotine, sorry the article is kind of long ::::::: health.howstuffworks.com/nicotine1.htm

So currently there are individuals saying that marijuana does not have a physical addiction. in other words the chemicals within it do not have the same effect as nicotine. therefore it can not be addicting. Well neither does alcohol, sex, porn, etc. etc. etc. - however these examples have a great number of individuals addicted to them. there are several programs, steps, places focus on rehabilitating individuals away from such examples. So through common sense and my own personal experience…you don’t need nicotine or anything like it in order to be addicted to something. you don’t need to have the same effect as nicotine in order for marijuana to be addicting. I do not need a thousand scientists to tell me that either.
Use of such drug creates an natural unbalance within the brain creating a situation when a person is no longer in control of their own body and mind
"THC acts upon specific sites in the brain, called cannabinoid receptors, kicking off a series of cellular reactions that ultimately lead to the “high” that users experience when they smoke marijuana. Some brain areas have many cannabinoid receptors; others have few or none. The highest density of cannabinoid receptors are found in parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thoughts, concentration, sensory and time perception, and coordinated movement.

Not surprisingly, marijuana intoxication can cause distorted perceptions, impaired coordination, difficulty in thinking and problem solving, and problems with learning and memory. Research has shown that marijuana’s adverse impact on learning and memory can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off. As a result, someone who smokes marijuana every day may be functioning at a suboptimal intellectual level all of the time." addictionrecoverybasics.com/marijuana-use-affects-your-brain-here-is-how/

“This plant contains more than 400 chemicals, including delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the plant’s main psychoactive chemical. THC is known to affect our brain’s short-term memory. Additionally, marijuana affects motor coordination, increases your heart rate and raises levels of anxiety.” health.howstuffworks.com/marijuana.htm

now, curious on why it is to believe that effects from marijuana is normal? if we were not suppose to be in control of our motor skills well guess what, we wouldn’t be. There are some individuals who are reluctantly under this category, however. Doctors and others tend to refer to them as physically disable. now could anyone really claim that effects of marijuana are ‘normal’?

There is no hell in which to go. You however choose to impair your cognitive functioning and then your deliberately operate a motor vehicle on a public road. You then openly brag that when stopped, the police were unable to detect that you were impaired.

You’re fooling know one…but yourself.

Just for your information no does not equal know…learn how to spell. Perhaps your brain has been damaged…even tho you don’t smoke marijuana obviously you have spelling issues…failure. Perhaps those who smoke are more intelligent…you’ve obviously proven it. hah.

First off, Yes, Marijuana is quickly becoming more acceptable in our society. I’m not going to go on about the racist and greedy reasons that went behind making it illegal because you obviously won’t care about that.
Don’t assume…I’m always interested in conspiracy theory 😉
You are talking about it in terms of sin.
yes and?
And yes, it is much safer than alcohol and tobacco, which when it is legalized, might make people choose it instead of the other two, which would be good for everyone.
first off, an item or thing or person being ‘safer’ does not mean it is harmless. you are confusing yourself, and I hope you are not attempting to purposely confuse others. Also, please make note of the bold…IF you are in support of marijuana simply because of the ‘medical’ reasons. then why would you support legalizing it for everyone. after all the current movement is to legalize it for all, with no regulations and that is what we will be most likely voting on first.** If it should be used in the medical field, then keep it in the medical field.** this should also expose the real reason behind legalization…the majority behind the notion is not your ill or loved one in pain, it’s a pot head.
You obviously can’t debate how people are affected or feel because you’ve never done it so you have no grounds or right to debate anyone who has about that subject. IE: Me.
to be frank, that sounds utterly arrogant and ignorant. under that ideal a child should not tell their mom to quit drug abuse just because they never did it themselves. you don’t have to try everything in order to have a justifiable/correct voice in it. otherwise you’d be not just a drug user, but homosexual, lady (or man) of the night, among other things that you just might not like. just saying…

People who have conditions that this herb helps and have been ill-treated with medicines that don’t work will have a much better quality of life. The thousands of products, textiles, food, medicines it can make will boost the countries economy to unimaginable numbers.

if legalization jump starts the economy, where is the money coming from in order to pay for it? if people are having a hard time paying for food, you really think they should use it for marijuana??? you really going to support irresponsibility?

Don’t assume…I’m always interested in conspiracy theory 😉
Conspiracy theory? I’ve already cited Mr. Anslinger’s racist remarks that started this false prohibition.

Uhh first off, it has THOUSANDS of more uses other than medicinal. Paper, Textiles, Food. I know I already said that alot of the first bibles were printed on hemp. I guess you chose to ignore that. Not surprising. And I also condone it for recreational use. Whatever happened to thou shalt not judge. Guess you chose to ignore that commandment. (As if I even care about your uneducated judgments)
if legalization jump starts the economy, where is the money coming from in order to pay for it? if people are having a hard time paying for food, you really think they should use it for marijuana??? you really going to support irresponsibility?
Seriously, have you not researched anything since this argument started? I’m not going to go into how much money we are going to make by legalizing it. I will just say that it will be more than you can imagine. The reason I don’t go into detail is its your job (as the antagonist of this argument) to discredit the number of dollars this movement will make with some data against it. But, you can’t do that. How suprising. (Not) You, my friend, are a fool of big brother.

you mean I’m comparing marijuana with heroin…I must disagree with this assumption as I describe what I am told. Your right I never have, and never will (I hope), but that does not mean I am completely absent to what occurs when someone uses it. nor would that change the teachings of the Church.
You’re going too believe simply what you are told? I’m not talking about the church here, but the anti-marijuana agenda. If so then you obviously haven’t been told enough then. Both sides on marijuana lie. There’s evidence of it in this thread and there’s evidence of it all around us. If you want the truth you need to be more open minded about other views, studies, and findings.
Now last I check the Church is highly against any person getting ‘high’ for several reasons. We are supposed to keep within ourselves, that means control of our bodies. Though this may be different with individuals, one hit and your high. you just lost control of your body
High is a very vague term. It doesn’t accurately describe the level of impairment on a person or the effects they receive. Not to mention it creates false assumptions in peoples heads of what it means to be high. “One hit and your high”- this coming from a person who has never used marijuana. One hit indeed does not get whatever you consider high. Please don’t speak of things you don’t know. Hash might be a different story, depending on your tolerance. The church teaches us that it is grave matter to completely deprive ourselves of the use of reason. An effective dose of marijuana does not necessarily completely deprive a person of their reason.
Also, how else would it be considered for use to get an ‘out of body’ experience? that is just one common phrase by most pot heads and the reasons towards using pot.
This is so false it isn’t even funny. Do you even know what it is like to have an ‘out of body’ experience? It means to have the sensation that you are looking at your body from the outside. Although that is kind of a rough sketch as it’s a little deeper than that. I’ll be honest, I haven’t had one, but I know for a fact marijuana does not cause an out of body experience and it is not the reason people use marijuana. It takes a drug way more psychedelic drug than marijuana to cause such an experience. Seriously, people who use marijuana don’t trip on it.
