Is there such a thing for Catholic couples? 🙂 I attend a mom’s group/Bible study once a week, and we are following the book serious “Courageous Virtue.” I was wondering if anybody knows of a book series or Bible study geared towards Married couples that my husband and I could sit down together once or twice a week and delve into the Word with?

Thanks! 🙂

I wish I could help you, I just came to say I’m also interested. I had joined a Bibile study group but it wasn’t what I was looking for. It was called Reading the Scriptures but it was more reading the Bible on your own and giving your own opinion about it.

Check out this site.

Bible studies that have registered with this site all around the USA are mapped out here. I will also add that this organization produces some of the best Bible study programs around.

Take a look at these programs (on the same site).

Note that some of these Bible Study programs carry an impramatur!

There is also the Little Rock Scripture Study

This is the one I was talking about, I guess my parish just named it different in their bulletin… I didn’t like it. I like the fact that we had a Bible study in my old parish but this is the wrong choice unless you want to discuss what you think the Bible means to you.

I still have the book and questionnaire book from the time I took the class but they do change books all the time, so, maybe you would like it, maybe not. For example, they had us read the first 3 books of the Bible and then the qustions would be like, “what do you think this has to do with real life” “How does this affect your life” “Can you relate this to your experiences, and how?”

I was looking for something more theologic until I found a perfect class but that was more the Catechism and the Bible, but it was geared more toward catechists, and I was one, so it was perfect for me. Too bad the 2 yrs are up and don’t have that any more 😦

Those suggested run a range of styles - somepeople want a very scholarly study, some a historical view, some a feelings based study.

Check the others, they may be what you are looking for.

Something else came to mind… have you checked with your parish? My current parish offers Bible studies of different kinds led by one of our priests. They also teach that theologic class but in 4 wks mine was a 2 yr class. Or check with the diocese (that’s where I found my class)

Maybe your parish can give you great local resources.

BTW, I checked those links above and they have classes 10 miles from me! I might join them!

Those are great suggestions. I thought I would also sugggest a study called “The Splendor of Love.” It is specifically for married couples and generally meets monthly in a “date night” kind of setting in a parish or in a parishioner’s home. The study incorporates a Bible Reflection, as well as a study of Pope John Paul’s Theology of the Body. It’s a great way to grow in our familiarity with Scripture, in the Church’s teaching on marriage, in relationship with other couples striving to live as God wants them to, as well as a bonding experience with our spouse. I highly suggest it!

This sounds wonderful!!! I had never heard of this study and for it to include TOB, makes me want to join if there is one close by. Thanks for telling us about this!
