I have read many times that RSV-CE is the best bible to use for apologetics. I have not been able to locate one that has cross references, good footnotes, concordance and an index included. Does any body have any advice. I need a bible that I can use for personal study and apologetics. It seems that there is just so many great study bibles to choose from if you are a Protestant but I don’t seem to be able to say the same for Catholics. Am I missing something??? I really like the NIV Study Bile by Zondervan but I would like to use a Catholic bible. PLEASE HELP!!!

The Navarre Bible has a TON of footnotes, but it is huge…like maybe 10 volumes, each $40 or so.

I have a New Jerusalem Bible that has a fair number of footnotes, indices, etc. And I have another New Jerusalem Bible that does not. You DON’T want the “Standard Edition”. Here is the one I have (I like it): amazon.com/New-Jerusalem-Bible-Henry-Wansbrough/dp/0385142641

If you like RSV-CE, there’s a version called the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible. But I don’t believe it is complete at this point. You can buy all the Gospels separately at this point (I have them). But I’m not sure what else is available in the series.

you can also get The Navarre Bible. it has a compact edition of the new testament.each page is about 1/2 scripture and 1/2 notes
sometime less.

Please vivit my humble website (linked below) for some resources

e-sword is a free Protestant Bible study, but the thread above will provide one with a number of Catholic modules, for Catholic Bibles, the Haydock commentary, and more is on the way way for use in the e-sword base program. This might turn in to be something quite outstanding.
