In Francis de Sales book the Catholic Controvery, part II, article VI, chapter V, he quotes St. Gregory:
“He became the follower of his inferior, though before him in dignity; so that he who was first in the high dignity of the Apostolate might be first in humility.”

I am looking for this full quote in its context but I cannot find it online
I am hoping someone has access to it and could share the paragraph with me!

The only reference St. Francis gives is “in Ezech ii:6” with no other information. I am thinking this is Pope St. Gregory the Great and in his homilies on Ezekiel but I am not certain. I’d appreciate any help!

Thank you in advance!

It looks like it wasn’t translated and published into English until 1990, so you’re not going to find a public-domain ebook or pdf of the entire work in English.

It looks like you can obtain it through Interlibrary Loan without too much difficulty. Go to Worldcat and type in the ISBN 978-0911165173 to get the closest library to you that has it. This is how my search looks— I don’t know if it will prioritize the Texas libraries with my link, or if it will compensate for your geographic location.

If it’s something you’d like to read more thoroughly, you can buy it for about $30.
